Owner description: Built to memorialize Alexander II following his assassination in 1881, this magnificent church with Italian pink marble floors and numerous mosaics was modeled after 16th and 17th century churches, contrasting sharply with the prevailing architectural styles.
Useful Information: Activities for older children

It was built on the site of Czar Alexandre II was murdered A masterpiece of Russian typical architeture. During the soviet time it was used as a storage facility for vegetables, corpses during world war two, etc. It was restored after this time.

The exterior and interior are unique and so something many Westerns will see, the mosaic work was beautiful. The major shame is slot of the floor is covered. Few English signs also limit an appreciationmof the site. The queues to get in can be long and be prepared tompay three times as much asmlocals to get in. The signs are pretty clear non citizens pay a premium, but this is standard for all exhibits in the city
