The room are clean, wi fi work ok, top location next to the ferry arrival and 2 small supermarkets. Breakfast is fine. The biggest asset is the manager, a charming girl called Alaisa. She welcomes us with a superb smile and was always there to assist. The restaurant at night is very expensive. 76 US$ for a 2 adults and a child. The nudist beach Playa De Suecas is 10 min walking.

As Jan-olofO said in the review below, choosing accommodation on Isla Contadora is not easy. There are budget places and there are expensive (over-priced from what we were told!) places. Gerald's is a good value option somewhere in between.

Just a couple of minutes walk to either Playa Larga or Playa Galeon the location is excellent. The ferry comes in to Playa Galeon and despite the short walk the hotel sent someone to collect us with a golf cart for our luggage (the island is a bit hilly - we walked everywhere but you can hire golf carts from Gerald's ).

Our room was a good size with air-con, WiFi and safe deposit box and a small outside seating area with chairs and hammock in front (note the seat areas aren't private as people walk through to get to their rooms - but there are only 8 rooms so not really an issue!).

There is a lovely roof-top terrace (covered) with plunge pool and a delightful bar/resto setting with vibrant flowers. You can feed the guest house deer and also hear a plethora of different birds!

Breakfast consists of fruit, eggs and toast, ham, cheese and yoghurt. The service is warm and friendly and the setting is beautiful. We also really enjoyed lunch and dinner here (see separate review of the restaurant).

There are a few other restaurants within walking distance (make reservations! ) and also some local food places and a reasonable super-mercado just after the small village square (turn right at the Air Panama office).

We thought it was a great place - and highly recommend getting up early to watch the sunrise from the terrace! Would definitely stay here again if we get the chance to come back to Contadora!

Choosing a lodging on Isla Contadora is not an easy task there are a number of point to take into consideration!
1. Where shall I eat lunch and dinner?
2. Am I going on whale safari?
3. Will I stay close to the water taxis to Panama City?
4. Will I be close to super markets?
5. Do I need to stay on the beach?

You can for sure find nicer rooms on other places on Contadora Island than Geralds but do you have food? Do You need to rent a grossly overprice golf carts to reach the restaurant for the evening dinners? In my point of view Geralds is by far the most economical solution and you receive a lot for the money! You will get the best breakfast, lunch and dinner at Geralds! The rooms have free Internet, a very good TV set with a lot of channels, a nice bed, safe and a small pool on the roof with a great view out over the Ocean. The staff is very service minded and speak good English. You have nice humming birds in the garden and even some animals. You are a short walk from the harbor and supermarkets! To sum it up Geralds are a great affordable accommodation with great food. The only thing missing are the beach!

Gerald's is about as nice as you can get on the island. The food is better at Gerald's then other places we tried as well. This is an under developed island with not much to do so more then a day or two stay may be too long.

Room Tip: Reserve a guest house.

Clean room. Convenient location. Easy walk to the beach. Friendly staff. Food was ok. A power line was cut on the other side of the island and not only affected electricity, but the water also. So ,no AC and no water until 10:30 that night. Dinner was still offered. Deer were nearby as were cavies and iguanas. One major disappointment was the pool on the roof....it is really just a big hottub with cold water.
