We spent two nights in a chimney suite and were very satisfied with everything. The location is about 20 minutes from Boquete on a functioning coffee plantation. There are hiking trails around the grounds, a coffee tour and a very nice restaurant. Birds everywhere, lush vegetation, lots of flowers.

Room Tip: Chimney suites were wonderful

Very nice place to go with the family, also kids. Landscapes are amazing, the staff is very friendly. Rooms are very good, but at night it was a little hot inside since they dont have fan or a/c. Also we could not open the Windows at night since they did not have insect-proof screens. For the rest the breakfast is amazing, very complete and is included with the rate.

Room Tip: the Junior Suites are great, include jacuzzi.

Thank you so much for your feedback, very helpful. The outdoor temperatures in Alto Quiel range from from 12c (54F) at night to 21c (70F) during the day, pretty much all year round. We'll certainly improve the screens thanks to your comments. Thanks again.

We rented the cottage for the time we were there. Perfect venue for our little group of 8. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent - ate 2 breakfasts and a dinner there. Booked massages in our sunroom one afternoon. Walked with Jim around the finca one morning ... lovely. Planning our next trip already. Thanks Finca Lerida!

My wife and I were staying in Boquete and drove up to get a coffee tour. From the moment we arrived, everyone - even the guard at the front entrance - were super nice and very warm, offering smiles and a really great vibe!
We were greeted promptly by employees who spoke perfect English and were made to feel very welcome. Our Tour Professional was very passionate about the coffee and explained how it gets grown and processed, and provided information on different types of coffee and what makes them so different. It was very educational and gave us a whole new perspective on something so many of us take for granted. It truly is a labor of love.
After our tour, we were greeted by another gentleman who spoke really good English! He had almost no accent at all! His name is Jim, and that last part was a joke, Jim's from the States. He welcomed us as well and encouraged us to check out the restaurant and the rest of the grounds. We had lunch at the restaurant which had more reasonable prices than one might expect for such a nice place. The food was excellent, very gourmet and again the staff were fantastic. Get a smoothie, they're amazing and as fresh as you can possibly get!
We enjoyed it so much we came back the next day to hike some of the trails, which rise up through the coffee fields and gave amazing views of the valley below and nearby foothills and mountains. Truly striking! I do recommend long pants and some bug spray (I use Picaridin repellent), but our host where we were staying says she never uses bug repellent and hasn't had problems, just wears long pants, but when we went the mosquitoes were quite bad the more into the forest you go. Not complaining, just a fact of life in that area. During our hike, we heard what we think were monkeys in the trees, or maybe really loud birds. Some of the workers said there are monkeys up there, so not sure. The trails are easy enough to walk, steep but not overly so.
Then on the third day, we returned again to actually buy some of their coffee. We got a few of each type they grow and we look forward to sharing them with friends and family. We were fortunate to be able to sample some of the Geisha during our coffee tour, and it is instantly evident why it is the most expensive coffee in the world. I would do a horrible job of trying to describe it, so all I can do is encourage you to do a tour and hope you get to sample some. It has so many flavors within the coffee, it blew us away.
Again, we ended up talking to Jim for a bit and he offered some interesting perspective on living in Panama, Chiriqui in particular. We hope to keep in touch, and feel welcome to, that's how chill everyone is there. Great people and experience. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We didn't stay at the hotel, but it looks very nice and we'd love to try it on next trip.

Waited an hour and a half for a burger and pizza. Both of which were completely cold. The burger was sent back and when returned was the same plate of food reheated slightly warmer. It was therefore awfully tough and dry. We ended up sending it back and forgetting about it.

Note - the barman was lovely and tried his best.

For London prices you expect better than this.
