We paid R3 936.00 for 2 nights, inclusive of breakfast. Being the only couple there, I thought we might be lucky and get an excellent breakfast. What a disappointment! Coffee was undrinkable. The bread was still half frozen. The egg whites weren't set, the pieces of bacon and sausage were so small, it could fit onto half a slice of bread. That was breakfast. We decided NOT to have breakfast there the second morning and went to eat in Swakopmund at Village Deli, even though our breakfast was paid for during booking.
The "luxury room" we stayed in was a nice size, but at the dressing table and mirror, there is no powerplug nearby for a hairdresser. The shower head has not been cleaned in a while and water is spraying everywhere except where it should and the water takes between 5-10 minutes to warm up. The plastic shower curtain really should be replaced with a glass door. I did not know that shower curtains still existed?
The staff were really friendly though.

We stayed at the campsite of Gecko Ridge. Although the main building and garden looks great, the campsite is quite basic and bare. We got a stand with no tap, far from the ablution block which is not ideal with 2 small kids, while all other stands where empty. The ablution block needs a lot of attention, taking a shower was almost impossible as the water was either freezing cold or burning hot, a ledge under the mirror was loose, a towel ring came off the wall when I used it, the wash sink was loose, the drain of the dishwashbasin was not properly connected. And for a lodge and camping with a posh look we missed the toilet paper, the soap and towels in the ablution block.
Best thing was that the infamous Swakopmund sea mist was not as big a problem as in town itself.
Beware that it takes 20-30 minutes to drive to town, more than the website suggests.

Really loved the setup and atmosphere at Gecko Ridge. Very friendly and helpful staff. The only down side is that the self catering room has only one room and lounge serves as room as well :( Can easily be found from the turn off good signage.
