Review of Mauritius Aquarium

Mauritius Aquarium

This place is located in a nice spot along the north coast where you are spoiled with a wide selection of beach, turquoise water, white sand, sun and blue sky.

I visited this place in early January with family and kids.

First if all it's a tiny Aquarium with limited species.
I personally think it's a bit pricy for what they offer.

Anyway, they did have both english and fench speaking guides.

My friend asked the guide a question about thd turtles, where they lay the eggs but thd guide said these ones do not lay eggs.

For sure, this wasn't the right answer as everyone knows turtles do come ashore to lay eggs.

We didn't want to embarass the guide but it's a bit suspicious....

I reckon a guide should be fully trained and provide honest answers to people to avoid any misunderstanding.

We had kids of age 6 to 8 who really enjoyed it but the adults thought it was overpriced.

Don't expect a giant aquarium, rather be surprised by a small but precious location, where during feeding times @ 11 and 15h Richard welcomes you and will answer all questions you might have on the local see life. Definitely worth a visit while being in the neighbourhood. We spent almost 1.5h there watching the fish and listening to Richards explanations.

Only few tanks with couple of fish. So small and it was completely waste of our time and money. Our guide told us they moved the old aquarium to this new location, so maybe it's temporary until they're done with the old aquarium

If you have small kids and are passing by it's okay but just okay. Nothing to see really. I'd say maybe 4 or 5 small rooms with some fish, lobster etc in tanks on display. The sharks were not there so we had even less to see... Would take 30 mins to an hr max.

Great informative visit. Went on a Monday morning. Decent parking availability. Excellent feeding time presentation. Loved the hawk turtles. Visit took about 1 hour.
