Mercure Okinawa Naha

Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 11 December 2017

I chose this hotel for my first visit to Naha as I wanted a reasonably-priced hotel easily accessible from a monorail station. On both counts I was not disappointed. The hotel was located just outside the Tsubogawa monorail station and I had no difficulties at all in getting there from the airport. The hotel was modern and new. There was a hiccup during check-in due to an IT issue and I could not be issued my room card key straightaway, but the staff handed it very well and personally brought me up to my room. I was also given a complimentary breakfast the next morning as compensation. I was given a corner room which was more spacious than the normal room. It was in any event roomier than rooms in business hotels that I had stayed in Kyoto, Osaka and Yokohama. It came equipped with all the usual amenities, and I had no complaints at all. Breakfast buffet was sumptuous although I had it only once. As for nearby facilities, there is a convenience shop in the next building, and a supermarket a further 5 minute walk through the back. Across the road is a river and beyond that, a park where the baseball stadium and other facilities are sited. No doubt the hotel is not located in the prime shopping district but that was a boom to me as it meant less crowd and less noise. Naha is not a big place and the usual attractions are within walking distance.

Three cheers to this hotel and its lovely and hardworking staff. Will definitely stay here again on my next visit.

Only takes less than 5 mins. to walk from the monorail station to the hotel. The room is small but you can find all the facilities you need. If you need to rent a car, you can find the counter in the lobby. This is a good place for your first-night stay when you visit Okinawa.

While on a tour of Okinawa, this was a stopping point for lunch. There was a buffet with typical Okinawan appetizers, fresh fruit, and drinks (hot and cold). Everyone loaded up on appetizers because the tour guide did not make it clear that we were being served a main dish. Not the fault of the Mercure staff.

Delicious food, clean hotel, pleasant staff.

Wifi was enabled for anyone who asked even though we were not hotel guests, only lunchers.
