The reason of staying at this hotel was the view and it didn't disappoint us! The size of the room was very good and it was clean. The staff was helpful and the waiter at the japanese style buffet restaurant made an effort to make a vegetarian pasta which was just perfect.

This is an awesome hotel and a fantastic place to hang out and relax. Prices are reasonable, rooms are fairly large in size (for Japanese hotels) and most rooms have a fantastic sweeping views of the Sasebo bay. The hotel has a few restaurants on site, a great swimming pool, bath house, gift store, spa etc. The hotel also runs a free shuttle service to the railway station/city areas every 30 min or so.

The location of this hotel has its advantages and disadvantages for visitors.

Advantages being the secluded location on top of the mountain, peace and quiet, fantastic views, and great staff and service.

The main disadvantage is of course the 30 minute drive to get to the hotel from the station. If you dont have your own car, you are pretty much stuck in the hotel with not too much else nearby. The last shuttle back to the hotel is at 10.00pm (i think) and a taxi ride late at night will cost a bit.

Would i stay there again? Absolutely!!!

Room Tip: ask for a room with a balcony of course

The biggest selling point for this hotel is the view. They are amazing. It was a pleasure to go to sleep looking at the city lights below and to wake up to stunning sunrises. The staff is first class! From the front desk, to the restaurant, to the housekeepers, to the driver of the free shuttle bus into town/train station...everyone was extremely warm, friendly, and polished. The room itself was spacious (non smoking twin) and this Western body found the beds to be very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a large variety of Japanese items and fresh fruit. The room was very worn and in need of a refresh. The wallpaper was wearing off the walls, the varnish on the table and desk were worn through, and the upholstery on the desk chair was worn. The room was very clean, just worn. If I didn’t have a car doing business would be tough as the first bus into town didn’t leave the hotel until 8am. I am very glad I had the opportunity to spend a few nights at Yumiharinooka Hotel and I would recommend it to anyone traveling to Sasebo. Did I mention the views were amazing?

We came here in middle of july because of the swimming pool but when we arrived in the afternoon to enjoy it they said the pool was not able to receive us. We are very disappointed and we feel like being in a trap. We complained but they just say they are sorry. Nothing else...
Of course the view is nice but rooms are kind of old with dirty carpet, mold in the bathroom and AC fan.
No wifi in the room.

My husband and I stayed here overnight and enjoyed our short time at the hotel. We traveled by car so we had no problem getting to the hotel, and the service from the staff was excellent, managing our luggage and checking us in quickly. The view from both the hotel and the nearby observatory was perfect, overlooking the 99 islands, the port and the city of Sasebo. The rooms are a little outdated, but large by Japanese standards and comfortable (standard twin room). There is no wifi in the rooms. We ate dinner in the Japanese restaurant Siosai, choosing a kaiseki (multi course) meal, which was delicious.

Room Tip: All rooms have views overlooking Sasebo
