up on the hill in Sasebo with a very nice view of the surroundings, we only stopped at the Terrace Restaurant for a delicious buffet lunch. Efficient, friendly staff helped us along even though English not spoken much.

This is my first visiting in Sasebo town, I stay one night in Yumihari no Oka Hotel. The hotel located on the hill, It is very nice view when we look out to the sea. The hotel's staffs are very hospitality, breakfast meal are very good taste. There is a shuttle bus service between the hotel and JR station in every hour.

Room Tip: Clean room and good service

First time we stayed in this hotel was in 1975 and the spectacular views over Sasebo and the islands made us go back. The hotel is located on top of Mount Yumihari and the road leading to the hotel is narrow and winding. When we arrived in our room it was like a sauna, extremely hot and humid. The AC was turned on upon entering the room, but no cool air was coming out of the vents... The manager kindly upgraded us to a larger and cooler room. The hotel is a little dated, the bathroom was tiny. Unfortunately due to foggy weather conditions we can't see much of the incredible views over the volcanic islands off the coast. We enjoyed a delicious tempura and sashimi dinner in the hotel's Japanese restaurant. Everything is beautifully presented, an art the Japanese master extremely well. The breakfast buffet was ok, a combination of Japanese and western cuisine. The staff is very friendly and the hotel has a surprisingly nice gift shop with a large variety of unusual and beautiful gift items.

We had lunch only at this hotel. The road from Sasebo to the hotel is winding and steep but worth the trip. The facility is very inviting, and the dining room was clean and nicely decorated with beautiful views of the surrounding area. Service was excellent. The price of a complete lunch - starter, entree, and dessert - was 15 yen and offered two choices the day we were there: a type of risotto and a pasta with baby clams. Everything was delicious. There is a very nice gift shop as you enter the hotel which is worth visiting.
