Owner description: During the Edo period, lords and ladies took a boat along the Sumida River to Asakusa and the Sensoji Temple. Today, a sightseeing boat takes a similar route departing from the traditional Hama Rikya Garden.

Sumida river, in the area near Sumida park, is a nice place to have a walk. Several green areas where you can stop and take a nap! ;-)

Even without a boat tour or long stay at the park, the Sumida River offers lovely views. What a nice place to wind down after the shopping and temples of Asakusa.

Lovely walk along the river during Sakura season. Lots of people brought along mats to picnic on. There were also lots of food and beer trucks dotted along the river.

We got the Sumida River waterbus from inside the Hamarikyu gardens to Asakusa- it only stopped twice and took about 45 minutes and cost ¥740. You can sit outside at the stern or inside there are two levels with bench seats and tables.

Clean long river that takes you to Asakusa. Many bridges and lovely view of Japan's unique buildings. Various cruises are available .
