My family and I are spending 2 weeks in Japan and came to omaiya area to visit a friend for a night or two (there isn't any sightseeing around. It's a residential area) the family friend booked this hotel for us saying it's the nicest one around.

Honestly, I feel bad writing this review because it's like saying our family friend did a bad job at choosing a hotel for us. We are not fussy travelers but this hotel is just ridiculous from the moment we stepped into the front door.

We had 3 luggage and there was a bell boy at the door. You would think he will come get the bags for us. But he just stood there. Watching us struggling to get the luggage out of the trunk of the car. And we put it on the luggage cart. Then said good bye to our friends. But the bell boy didn't take our luggage away and he just walked away. We pushed the luggage cart through the lobby, checked in, pushed the luggage cart into the elevator, got to our room and unloaded. We walked pass by a man in a black suit with a name plate, whom I assume is someone that works at the hotel. He did not look at us nor greet us and did not offer to take our luggage. This is something I've never experienced before. Certainly not in Japan. All of the hotels we stayed at in Japan on this trip has been more than accommodating and made us feel so welcomed. Unlike the palace hotel omaiya.

We called housekeeping to give us bottled water. The person answered the phone couldn't speak any English. I don't understand how can a business hotel have housekeeping that can't speak any English?!

Horrible hotel. Would suggest you to stay a bit further to avoid this hotel at all cost.

This is very near to Omiya station. Place is most happening. Hotel is good for foreigners who cannot speak english. Bus stop for Narita airport is right opposite of the hotel. All shopping areas within walkable distance.

Rooms very comfortable but are not very big; are normal as per Japanese norms.

Within 5 minutes walk of Omiya station and set in the middle of a busy area full of shops and restaurants the Palace Hotel offers the business traveller a convinient and confortable place to stay.

The rooms are well air conditioned, clean and acomfortable. Enough space too. Non smokers don't compromise on taking a smoking room. That is really tough or perhaps in my case the last inhabitant smoked 60 a day.

Don't look any further, this is the best you get in the area!

Room Tip: Always ask for no smoking rooms!

This is a very western-friendly hotel, with large bedroom and bath compared to a Japanese chain hotel. The overall dimensions would be small for a US hotel, but it didn't feel cramped. Micro-fridge, water boiler, queen bed, small flat screen TV, and every amenity you can imagine in the bathroom - razor, shaving cream, comb, toothbrush, soap, shampoo, etc. Also had two robes and two pair of slippers.
Staff was friendly, and due to its proximity to the rail station, there were plenty of restaurants and shops available.

Room Tip: All are about the same
