The place is quiet, clean and cosy.

The couple who run it are extremely friendly and attentive to your needs. Always ready to help, never obtrusive.

I was given a lot of good advice, useful plans and leaflets of the nearby sights and on two separate occasions, I was even offered a lift by car.

Breakfast was rich and delicious.

Pity I could not stay longer!

All reviews before mine praised enough already about how good the place is, which I can't agree anymore. Tidy and comfy room with a origami swan on the pillow as a welcoming gift(I guess). Japanese family style hotel (ryokan) located in a quite and peaceful residential area far away from busy city center but close enough to travel by car or bicycle in less than 10 minutes. And price is just unbeatable, you will find it worth every Yen you spend.

I stayed two nights with Japanese style breakfast at 7:00a.m. on my request. I over-slept for 20 minutes but the lady host waited me patiently in front the dining room. Japanese are famous for their punctuality and I felt my guilt right away. She sat me down immediately with the well-prepared breakfast and the TV already tuned to NHK news, then miso soup and rice were brought up after my late arrival so it will be hot and steamy. She explained every dishes in details and told me the weather of the day so that I can prepare my schedule accordingly. Nothing compare to the hospitality and kindness.

Definitely will visit again and recommended for every traveler visiting Shizuoka.

Shizuoka is one of the ideal sized city which is closed to both the ocean and the mountains. You can reach by a bicycle easily as it is flat, no up and down. It might be a good change and relief for the traveller after the metropolitan cities. We are very happy to have your nice words towards us and already hope to have you here again in near future with your family!!!
Thank you.

We had no idea what to expect as we booked to go to Shikuoka to get off the tourist trail a bit. We were not disappointed. The couple who run the ryokan are delightful and so helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. We both slept very well too. A mixture of peace and quiet away from the city centre and probably the onsen style bath just before bed. Also, we are tall people (1.73m and 2.2m) but the futon bed was comfortable and the room spacious enough. We had dinner and breakfast there. It was very traditional and delicious and a chance to try things we wouldn't normally eat (like the wasabai with sake !) Highly recommended.

The middle-aged couple who runs Jumaioso are two of the genuinely kindest people we've met during our travels in Japan. The communication was thorough and their level of English was quite high. They took care of us from the start, lending bicycles, recommending amazing food spots, and serving up an incredible Japanese breakfast. Upon check-out, they offered to drive us back to the train station. We ended up with a free tour of the city, with incredible views of Mt. Fuji and the nearby beach. Highly recommended if you're looking for a traditional ryokan home-stay experience in a modern Japanese
city off the beaten track.
