Situated right on the seafront Rooms have balconies and lovely views.
Room was large with a typical Japanese low table seating area.
Bathroom was very tiny, not enough room to dry off after a shower unless you went back into the bedroom.
We had a traditional Japanese evening - Kimono , belts and shoes are provided and we gathered for a typical Japanese meal.
The hotel has an Osen, single sexes, towels are provided, very strict rules regarding tattoos - if you have a tattoo you will not be admitted as the Japanese associate tattoos with the mafia gangs !!!
A nice shop on the ground floor behind reception.
Roof top bridge leads you to the main town, a short walk down the rod to the small beach and harbour front.

We stayed here for 1 night to meet old friends coming from Tokyo. This is a older hotel, but has great location, built in front of a cliff and overlooking the ocean. Each spacious room has a tatami seating area facing the ocean. Single beds were comfortable, and entrance to the hot spring bath (Japanese onsen - included in room rate) was on the fifth floor - very nice and clean facility. Our room rate included Japanese dinner and breakfast buffet - very delicious and full of wide selections. Hotel is just 15 min walk to the famous Atami beach. The only unfortunate part of this hotel is the rather noisy car passing on the highway running between the entire length of the hotel and the ocean, and the noise affected all of the rooms as all rooms face the ocean. The room rate was rather high, but so is everything in or near Tokyo.

I think the hotel needs a big renovation since wherever you go you notice here and there signs of how old the hotel was established. I could not deny that the hotel is clean and since it face directly to the ocean, the scene was beautiful. I doubt that the hotel is on walking distance from JR Atami Station since it was located quite on the left edge of the beach. But not to worry, shuttle bus from and to the station is prepared by the hotel for free and it runs at 30min interval starting from 10am to 3pm.

The receptionist was nice and professional. My room was a combination between western twin bed and a small tatami living room located on the 8th floor. I also tried the onsen and it was reasonably clean. Using the opportunity, at night I drank at the bar served by a very pleasant bartender.

The hotel has traditional Japanese style tatami floor in the seating area with low tables and cushions and with modern beds towards the entrance. We were on twin sharing and most put up in 5th and 6th floors. The rooms are sea facing so great views of the sea and in the mornings with the door open to the balcony you could spend a few peaceful moments hearing the tides crashing.

The rooms were actually quite roomy , although the bathrooms were tiny in typical Japanese style again. Although they had all the modern fittings and very neat and clean. The hotel also has the facility for hot spring baths on the 5th floor and some of my members in the group who used it were pretty impressed with the amenities provided here too.

We had the traditional Japanese dinner in the restaurant too and the quality of food was good both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. The hotel is around 10 mins drive from the town center, however there is a pathway from the terrace to the streets on the other side of the hotel having a few convenience store.

Wi-fi is available only in the lobby and in the dinning areas in the first floor. Connectivity was very poor with very few users able to login at a time.

The breakfast spread had limited options with again more Japanese style of spread.
Overall it was an experience to stay in the traditional Japanese setup and enjoy their hospitality.

The reception is on level 17, and the guest rooms are built down the side of a cliff to sea level. The hotel itself is quite old, and although clean and tidy, the signs of age are everywhere.

It is a traditional Japanese Ryokan, where you sleep on a futon on the floor. The floors are covered with tatami matting, which gives the room a distinctive smell. Our room was relatively small, with the kotatsu table and chairs having to be pushed to one side for the staff to make up the futons for sleeping.

The palatial dining hall on the 2nd floor provides a traditional Japanese breakfast, with the ocean crashing on the rocks a few feet away.

The main feature, and the reason for the hotel being here, are the hot mineral spring baths in ground floor. Apart from the Art Museum in Atami, there doesn't seem to be much else in the vicinity for visitors.

Room Tip: If you like the sound of waves on the rocks to lull you to sleep, choose a room on the lower levels. If not, pick an upper floor.
