Business hotels in Japan are often geared towards roving salarymen or business agents overnighting in a particular area. As such, they feature a wide range of services and amenities which are usually excellent price for money.
This is the case of Hotel New Station, which we used as a launching pad to travel to Kamikochi the following day (and then to Takayama). A stone's throw away from the JR station, the accommodation perfectly suited our needs. Rooms are small but clean, and the service is courteous. Ensuite facilities, of course. The hotel also features a restaurant and a tavern that seemed particularly lively, even though we elected to venture into town to have some local zaru soba.More
