Of its class which is a budget hotel in a great location this is the best of its class. We have stayed in a few and they have been so so, but this hotel had a little larger rooms ( they are all small) and the fittings were slightly better quality. The beds are very comfortable, tiny bathroom pod better than usual, good layout of room not too cramped and spotlessly clean. Reception also ultra efficient, would stay again!

Reasonable stay at a great location.

Staff were friendly and helpful, could communicate in English for everything needed. You can buy discounted tickets to the castle at the front desk.
Hotel is located next to the train station - 3 minutes walk.

Rooms were clean but very small. The window of our room was facing the train tracks, but it was quiet and we could sleep well.

- Free Wifi.
- Non-smoking rooms are available.

The best future of Hotel New Station is its location, it’s just excellent, minutes from the train station, very good restaurants are just short stroll away, and the biggest attraction, the castle, is pleasant 20 min. leisure walk. People working at the reception are very polite and helpful. The hotel has public baths, which are quite popular in Japan, ladies are getting their own keys for lockers to store valuables while bathing. Rooms are clean, well organized, bed is comfortable and in proper double size, and what that means is it’s taking the most of the space, which is as compact as possible. The bathroom is even smaller, it’s somehow difficult to fit in there. But as I said, is clean and has all the necessary toiletries. To summarize, the location and very reasonable price are making this hotel a perfect choice for busy travelers, who will use it only for sleeping.

We stayed at the property 09-10 Oct 2015 (1 night).

We stayed at Matsumoto at the end to our trip and enroute to the International Airport. We had, therefore, chosen a Hotel near the railway station. The property is a 5 minute walk from the Station. It is quite cozy but the room we had chosen was very, very small. Probably great for a single business traveller but for a couple with luggage coming off a 2 week holiday, it was the wrong choice - or at least, the room was. I am sure they have larger rooms.

No complaints about quality and cleanliness though - as expected, it was spotless and good quality stuff. They could not supply a second luggage rack so it was very difficult to manage our luggage in that tiny room. Lots of places to eat and stroll around near the Hotel.

If you intend to take a bus to Chubu airport beware, everything was full and we had to take the train and transfer to another one at Nagoya. Quite difficult, if you have luggage. Apparently, there are not too many buses from Matsumoto to Chubu Airport.

But I guess, on a value for money basis, you can't complain.

Room Tip: Get one near an elevator. Saves walking around.

A few steps from the station, and very easy to locate.
Old style hotel, rooms would need refurbishing.
Handy location for visiting the city, and walking distance from the castle.
Agreable staff.
Onsen (public bath) open late and free of charge. Relaxing !
Breakfast average.
