Interesting and good value spot to while away a morning or afternoon. Lots of info on how it was built, free guides available and good multi-lingual info points and brochure. Gardens nearby - be sure to buy a combo ticket to save ¥100.

Well worth a look around the grounds. It’s a lovely walk, particularly in the evening when crowds are fewer.
Although much of the original castle now lost the reconstruction and guidance gives you an excellent insight into the Kaga clan. Just spend 90 mins and explore all the bits others seem to void. Don’t bother with the App unless you have an OCD fascination with wall construction techniques.
We were fortunate to have a local guide, Kazu who couldn’t have been nicer and a wealth of information! Lots to see and understand at the castle but you really need a guide to appreciate what you’re seeing.
Old samurai castle across from Kenrokuen Gardens. Lots of interesting history. Suggest a guide to help you navigate the place.
A look today will see the big gates and traps, gatehouses and viewing points but there are further plans for reconstruction. Some nice photo stops. You can pick up a free English Guide for a tour.
