Our group of 13 had its own private room with four tables.
The opening course of a large sashimi bowl was a meal of its own.
Many other quality courses followed as did the constant flow of unlimited Sake. Snails, seaweed soup, sobs and omg several other quality items.
The prompt well groomed and uniformed staff arrived the moment we pushed our buzzer. The owner and head chef also came by twice to mingle and make sure we were enjoying. A night to be remembered.
Not a common tourist spot which to me is a real treat.

We stumbled upon this restaurant one night and were not disappointed at all. The food was very good and the atmosphere was certainly entertaining. There weren't too many Westerners there, which we were very happy about. It was all quite affordable. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a good meal in a lively place.

Very good taste if you are interested in Japanese foods. They have English menus for foods and drinks. Average price. Very good service and excellent foods. Love this restaurant!!

Happened upon Itaru by chance and was immediately drawn in by the lively atmosphere as well as the huge number of locals who were eating there and so obviously enjoying their food. The set meal gives you the chance to sample many delights including outstanding sashimi, firefly squid, thick slices of duck cooked a wonderfully aromatic sauce, yam in a thick broth, gorgeous sardine spring rolls with ume and an exquisite type of prawn toast with spinach sauce. We were so lucky to eat there. Usually you have to queue and apparently it’s very hard to get in. Very highly recommended.

We arrived in Kanazawa and headed here for dinner last night. All the food that we got were absolutely delicious and nothing to complain about. But we were disappointed with the service so this review will be about the why. We were given English menu with pictures and order taken by a staff who doesn’t speak much English and so we tried our best to communicate with hands signal. We ended up ordering 7 different things. Then asked the staff attending to us if he could recommend anything. He struggled for a many uncomfortable silent seconds before asking if we knew what something that he said in Japanese was..then showed us a menu with nothing but Japanese on it and said that that’s the special they have for winter. Ok, we don’t read Japanese but it’s not expensive so we picked one (turned out to be grilled soft roe so that was lucky that it was something we’ve had before but don’t know the name in Japanese). We finally placed order for assorted sashimi, grilled fish, grilled tofu with natto, grilled chicken, assorted grilled skewers, deep fried glass shrimps. While the staff was thinking about what he could recommend us, my husband said we have to change the grilled fish order because he just noticed that the English name of that fish wasit was rosy sea bream, which means it could be a way way big fish for just the two of us, and chose something else that we knew for definite to be good portion for 2 people to share. We saw another table ordered the sea bream and it was huge. Lucky we cancelled. He then asked if this was all we wanted, and we said yes thank you arigato.
The sashimi came, it was beautiful and delicious, the mystery winter special order came, it was super yummy and we loved it, the. The grilled fish came and that too was great. We don’t know how to eat grilled whole fish with chopped sticks and could feel that one of the chefs was staring at us and was holding back laughs with another waiter who stood behind us. That was quite rude I thought. But we didn’t care too much because we will never see them again so whatever. Then we waited for the rest of the food,,which didn’t come. We waited for half an hour and still nothing. I googled Japanese translation for “my order hasn’t come yet” and showed the waiter. He asked what we ordere and I showed him, he showed me the order on the system and only showed those 3 dishes that we received. OMG I was pissed off. But what can we say or do that they will understand. So they said their sorries, and I said that’s ok, but we don’t want to order anything else because we were tired and just want the bill. The 3 dishes and drinks cost a little over 6000 yen which was expected. But we were not full and were quite annoyed. Hungry anger is bad. So we paid for it and that was the end of our night there.
But after all this, I would still recommend it. Just make sure to ask them to repeat back the orders to make sure you get all your food and ask how big the fish are.
