Owner description: Located on the banks of the poetic Thu Bon River, in central Quang Nam province, 30 kilometers south of Da Nang, Hoi An ancient town is an Eastern oriental classic captivation. With the strategic location on the banks of the great river, with one seaside border (East), it used to be one of the major trading centers in Southeast Asia during the 16th century due to the early western trader occupying period.

The ancient town is touristy but definitely worth going there.
The atmosphere is relaxing and you can take great pictures there.
The market at night is exciting and you ca make a wish sending a ship with a candle down the river.

Old city charm and photographic opportunities aplenty. Would suggest visit prior to 9am. Then it gets busy. By evening the place is thronged by busloads of people. Get hold of a map and take the interconnected alleyways. If you get the chance eat in the marketplace. All the local dishes at ridiculously inexpensive prices, served up by happy smiling cooks. We couldn't resist return visits.

I was disappointed with Hoi An. I had heard so many great things and really all the Ancient Town has are a bunch of stores and restaurants! It's difficult to appreciate the ancient architecture when all you see are clothes and souvenirs!

We came here many years ago, and it’s certainly a busier than it used to be. There are a plethora of restaurants (some better than others, food wise and price wise), coffee shops, gift shops, bags and shoe makers and of course, tailors. The town hasn’t lost any of its’ charm, despite the hoards of tourists.

The night lighting and riverside night market with street food, bars and coffee shops are an unforgettable experience.

Dream come true for window shoppers and people who value money over compulsion to by branded merchandise for leather bags, shoes, artificial jewelry and made to measure tailored clothes.
