The location of Selimiye Mosque adjacent to the Mevlana Museum on this pleasant open square is most attractive. Gentle colour and structure is fairly simple and makes it visually pleasing externally. Unfortunately there was restoration work going on so sheets over quite a section to the rear of the mosque but this made no difference to the women WOMEN HAVE A SEPARATE ENTRANCE - this leads to a small curtained off area with no view of the interior at all. Some Americans were there at the same time as us and all tried to use the main entrance; when told this was not possible they left. Very disappointing as although we have an understanding of the differences in religious beliefs this is also being listed as a tourist attraction (Konya uses its charms) .
