I will start on the good points of this hotel:
Good location for the beach and shops, Olympic size swimming pool, Rooms cleaned everyday with comfortable beds and quite spacious, Overall cleanliness of hotel pretty good. Cannot think of anything else!!
Where to start with the bad points......
Hotel staff speak very little English, all of the activities are tailor-made for the German and Russians, who, (yes you can guess) are extremely rude and passionate about jumping the queues (especially in the dining room). Breakfast, lunch and teatime is like a feeding frenzy at the zoo. Breakfast is the same everyday (omelettes are great btw), lunch doesn't change that much and teatimes always consist of fish, chicken and even more chicken. food is very repetative and tastless. On visiting the restaurant for tea one night, my partner found sick all over the chair and floor which had not been reported nor cleaned up, disgusting. The bars are clean and easy to get served during the day (all the germans and russians are at the beach). In the evening it is a different matter, you cannot get seated, there are children at the bar all the way through till midnight, they run around, screaming and shouting, (zero parental responsibility whatsoever and why not they are on their holidays!! We also witnessed kids flying through the outdoor pool area on scooters... really!!! The main pool area, is crowded, noisy and very slippery, (make sure you get a decent holiday insurance), i was astonished to watch some kid pee off one of the bridges into the main pool, hence using the olympic pool instead.. The olympic pool is great, very few kids in the morning and then BOOM, they hit the pool and flout the rules of using this pool. Every morning we found broken glass around the sunloungers and also twice in the actual pool, fair do's to the life-guards they jumped in and picked the pieces out but it took the cleaners around half an hour to sweep the sunlounge area. I spoke with the hotel manager about the problems with the kids, playing in lifts, running riot, unable to get to the bars to get drins coz it was full of kids, not being able to summon a lift coz of kids playing in them, he took no managerial responsibility whatsoever saying it was a family hotel, thats all well and good but there are also plenty of couples in the hotel also, blinkered and useless is the only way to describe him!!!!! The beach seems quite organised for the Xanthia but it was disgraceful to see all of the litter and plastic glasses dumped everywhere.
On the 3rd day of our holiday i contracted sickness and diarrhea which i reported to the Guest Relations Manager Merol, 2 days of suffering i was told that there was a good percentage of the guests that had got this and was advised NOT to eat the salad or fruit, so be warned, the few English that where at the hotel had had the same symptoms, there were no warning signs up in reception to let people know there was a problem but then again it would have been written in German, silly me.
Overall if you are English and especially if you have children i would strongly recommend that you do not waste your money and stay clear of this hotel, as English language is very very poor and cater only for the German and Russian kids. Also if you are travelling as a couple or with a companion and need a relaxing holiday steer clear of this hotel, i wished i had booked at the Sensimar which is just next door and is Adult only, (same price as the Xanthia)
Just returned home from this hotel, it is perfect for relaxation, all the staff are very hard working and provide great service, some speak very good English and they really make an effort with you. There was a handful of English guests but mainly Russian and German, but overall that didn’t bother us, the food was nice and always a good choice. Loved the bbq section outside every night. Would definitely return to this hotel. Many thanks to a fair few of the staff that made our holiday that bit more better.
We have just returned from tbis lovely hotel. An amazing choice of food. Plenty of pool beds and swimming pools. Hard working Entertainment team. Amazing pleasant staff. A bit out of Side but walking distance or cheap dolmus. My award would have to go to the amazing Katya on reception who resolved any issue with a smile and works hard to keep everyone happy.unable to get into the a la carte restaurants but no problem. Many Russian and German holiday makers. Well behaved children. Needed to pay to keep room as a night flight. Hotel policy so ok.Could have used poolside showers etc otherwise. Visit Side historic town .
Just returned home had a great time at this hotel , even tho hardly any English staying at the hotel mainly for Germans & Turkish, room fair size decent beds + mini bar + tv, food plenty with a good choice but not always hot ? sometimes many people waiting to get food would not like to be here when very busy ??, pools very clean but cold hardly any body about , large international pool , nice clean beech just 5 mins walk, all the staff very friendly & helpful , Gorom ?? young man front desk always went out his way to help. Would say 8+ for this hotel
Efrenseki is a German based area 8-10km from Side , we went into the main town to watch Champions league & found drinks very costly £3- 5 a drink & a taxi back cost £12 so not a cheap night out so be warned ?
Over all friendly staff. Nice and clean, beds and pillows not comfortable. Pool very cold March to beginning April and water temp not displayed.... one on display 9 months ago.. shower floor retained water...
