Having been bombarded by advertisements we decided to go to this restaurant local to home. We both really fancied a good steak meal and a treat. We arrived and there was local parking on the street. The waiter greeted us and gave us a choice of tables. He brought our ordered drinks promptly with the menu, bread and some dips. At first the choice on the menu looked good. There was the regular section of various cuts of steak with or without sauces and then the 'aged' meat section of cuts that were very expensive. We made our choices from the regular menu but unfortunately neither were available that day. We then chose again and low and behold those weren't available either. It then transpired that only the very expensive meals were ''left''.
I'm afraid we asked for the bill for the drinks we had started and went to leave. At this point the owner came hurrying over and tried to persuade us to stay and have one of the overpriced meals - even showed us the kitchen and the fridges where the meat was stored. All very clean and hygienic. We declined and actually felt this was a con.
So unfortunately I cannot comment on the main courses but want others to be aware and to check what is available before sitting down!
Just to add my husband is Turkish and a trained chef - he was appalled at the experience and very upset that this could catch people unaware especially travellers.
