Well my fadher suggested this hotel for a vacation of 5 days , at first it was good. then when we discover the rooms the view wasn't as great (ground floor) also there's no refrigerator and there's a lot of bugs like a lot (spiders, ants, cockroachs..) then when it comes to the restaurant there's no option the plates repeat it selves and when there's a good meal (fish pizza french fries) you have to wait on line for a good 5 min . The animation group is great they are well behaved, loving. The Russians are okay in their own world drinking and swiming I never see them causing a fight or something. The service bar is doing good.

Before going on holidays, I’ve checked few web-sites for comments, and few of my expectations were not proved. Would like to mention I’m not a luxury tourist and used to be happy with small things. I perfectly knew that we were going to a 3* hotel.
Please note that even some comments are not so positive, I still recommend to visit this hotel, especially for a family holiday. And I really hope that this hotel will use all it’s potential to become a 4* for next summer season.

Here below my comments by points.

Reception: Have to mention that we’ve arrived in 1 week before the holy month of Ramadan was finished. For the note, all Muslims once a year for 30 days from sunrise till sunset do the Ramadan. In short term: in the day time they don’t drink water or any other drinks, don’t eat, don’t smoke and so on. Water and food are allowed after prayer around 7pm.
So we were lucky to arrive around 7pm to the hotel. We were met by an empty reception desk and had to wait for the receptionist 30 minutes while he was taking “breakfast”. In the lobby the AC was off and it was too hot and smelled junk food from the restaurant (about this below).
With all respect to Muslims and The Holy month of Ramadan (I’ve been working in Egypt during 5 years), the Hotel knew our arrival time and the receptionist could drink some water and check us in, or please let a Christian receptionist to do the shift.
Compliments to check in – it was very fast!
All receptionists I met during my stay are very friendly and polite, speak very good French, German, English and probably few other languages, but Russian market is new for them, so they know only few words in Russian. That wasn’t a problem, because my English is good enough, but even though we didn’t get any info about the Hotel or AI system. As per AI system at Meninx Hotel: upon arrival you get a bottle of water (1,5 littre) per room at the reception. Later you may refill it from a dispencer at the restaurant or any of the bars, or you can buy water at the Hotel’s souvenir shop (1 dinar per 1,5 littre bottle). Would like to pay your attention to this small detail not because I didn’t want to spend 1 dinar for water, but because a simple information wasn’t given to us.
The bellboy was a very nice elderly man. He helped us with luggage and guided us to our room. Very politely he checked that everything was ok in the room (electricity, water, lights and AC) and wished us a pleasant stay (which wasn’t done at the reception).

The room: The room was nice, I almost have no comment about it. We came for Sun and Sea, but not to sit in the room. It was big enough for 2 persons, beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean, bed cloth and towels were changed every day. There are only few moments I’d like to mention: there are no shelves in the closed, only few hangers. Even for a SGL stay shelves would be useful to place your clothes. There’s no mini-bar in the room. If you are checking in to a room with numbers 601-604 or 621-624 be ready to face a white fence from your balcony.
An advice to the Hotel – please plant some trees along it, the view will be nicer. On the 4th day of our stay our AC stopped working, after 2 times going to the reception it still didn’t work. But it didn’t cause us any discomfort, because there are no mosquitoes or any other flying biting insects and in the night it’s chill enough to sleep with an open balcony door.

Animation: A HUGE compliment to the Animation Team. The level of animation surprised me a lot! I know what I’m talking about because for 3,5 years working in Egypt I’ve been a Chief Animation. For this not a very big 3* Hotel there’re 10 animators, including Kid’s Club animators and the Chief. Very friendly and communicative with guests, giving different sport activities: stretching, water polo, beach volley, aquagym, darts, boccia, aerobic/step aerobic/different dancing lessons and pool games, we were staying 9 days and every day pool games were different. Kid’s Club also has a weekly program, every day there’s something different. There’s a separate pool with slides in the Hotel and Kid’s Club has activities there and at the beach as well and also they join the pool games. Every evening there’s Mini disco and apart from Kid’s Club animators all animators are joining it to entertain kids. The evening entertainment program is also weekly based, every evening there’s something to do: dancing eve, life music, karaoke in different languages, animation dancing/cabaret show or folkloric show from outside. Animation is till 12 in the midnight, after it few times a week animators collect groups and take guests out to a disco for some extra pay (10 dinars = 5$). Don’t be afraid to join them, clubs are not far from the Hotel, taxi is only 2 dinars, drinks in the club from 5 to 15 dinars, depending on what you’d like to drink. Any time you want you can go back to the Hotel, animators will help you to get a taxi and will explain the driver where he should take you. Taxi is also safe, I was nicely surprised by the calm way of driving and respectful behavior of the driver. All animators are very friendly, polite and respectful with guests, always ready to help, even if it’s not there responsibility. For example: at the terrace where the Mini disco and dancing evenings take part all tables and chairs are always occupied, so once animators see a guest seeking for a place to sit, they rush to arrange a table and chairs for him (actually this is a responsibility of service). As it is written above always nice and respectful with all guests doesn’t matter if it is a young lady, a man, a child or an elderly person and always if they have some free minute they will come to say goodbye to the guests who are leaving back home, by the way this is the job of Guest Relation.

Guest Relation: This person deserves a separate comment. Honestly in 9 days that we’ve been there I didn’t find out what was his name, he has never introduce himself. This guy should study his job description. There was almost no sense of him at all, if you have any problem he sands you to the reception, and only if he’s around reception by accident he might help you with translation. For the rest of the working time he’s going around the hotel to show off himself and tries to catch young ladies, and he doesn’t care if the lady is on holidays alone or with her man. Probably I’m wrong but as far as I know Guest Relation responsibilities in general are welcoming guests upon arrival and also saying good bye before the transfer to the airport, communicating with guests and getting comments if they are satisfied, or not and give actual assistance with solving problems, but not trying to catch a girl.

Beach and swimming pools: The Hotel has 2 outdoor swimming pools (1 with slides), 1 indoor and a long beach. Swimming pools and the beach are equipped with sun beds, umbrellas or sunthrough roofs and showers, and at both pools and the beach there’s lifeguard for the day time. The pool stuff is also nice and polite, communicates with guests in different languages and never bothers guests with no need. Main pool is from 1.5 till 2 meters deep, there’s also a kids pool part, which is separated from the pain pool with a fence. The pool with slides is also of a different depth but not deeper than 1,5m. Slides are opened few hours before lunch and few after, the schedule can be found next to it. During high season (June-August) it is difficult to find a free sun bed after 9am, before that time you still have a big chance. Some people reserve their sun beds from the evening of the day before with their privet towels.
An advice to the hotel – to inform the guests to not reserve sun beds longer that for 2 hours, 1/3 of them reserved for nothing. They reserve sun beds just in case if they would like to come to the pool, but actually the whole day stay at the beach.
Beach is nice, long enough with enough sun beds and umbrellas. Fine, white sand, shallow entrance to the sea, which is perfect for children and there’s a shower and an AI bar. But there’s one thing to mention – sea plants. It’s too much of it. In the morning it’s low tide and all sea plants are at the coast line, some times some service collects it in big heaps in the end of the beach, but never take it away, or mostly leave it along the coast. After midday the tide comes up and all the plants are in the water again. I’m not squeamish at all, but still there’s nothing pleasant to enter the sea walking in the sea plant mud till the knee height. From time to time you can find a souvenir seller passing by, or a horse/camel riders offering to ride it. They stay by the water line and never come close to sun beds, so if you’d like to ride a camel you should come to them your self, which I personally really like.

Restaurants, bars and service: the Hotel has 1 main restaurant, 1 snack bar and 3 bars where u can get drinks. In this chapter of my comment there are only 3 positive points: they serve fresh orange juice during breakfast for extra pay (only 3 dinars), the good choice of fresh fruits for lunch and dinner: plums, peaches, oranges, apples, cantaloupe and water melon. All fruits were very fresh and tasty. And the third – good quality and variety of ice-cream for dinner. For the rest, unfortunately, I was really disappointed in food, restaurant atmosphere and service. First of all the restaurant itself is completely white (walls, ceiling, table cloth, napkins) like an IC room in a hospital. Unfortunately it was far not as clean as in the IC room. There’s no music inside, so you can hear all noisy sounds: when the stuart collects dirty plates or cattery and throws the cattery to the bucket from a 1 meter distance, moving of the chairs, especially at the outdoor terrace. The buffet itself looks grey, colorless and not attractive at all. Vegetables at the salad bar look like they were cut last morning and left in the sun for the whole day, soups can hardly be called like this, they look like stuff was cleaning pans and leftovers of vegetables were collected together in the hot water. The buffet is big enough to offer a nice variety, but mostly you can find double dishes (2 same beef stew, 2 eggplant stew and etc.). At the life station there’s always a long line doesn’t matter if it’s fried eggs in the morning or fried liver/fish/beef in the evening. There’s no doubt that the food is freshly made, but it has no taste. The organization of the buffet is a bit hectic, due to that it’s always crowdie and guests are bumping each other. The plates and cattery were not always clean, we had to wipe them before use.

Snack bar is located on the way from main pool to the beach. It’s opened everyday from 12:30 till 15:00 for lunch and from 15:00 till 17:00 they make pancakes at the life station there with chocolate souse, honey or sugar. For lunch there’re always fresh vegetables (much fresher than at the main restaurant), salad dressings, 2 kinds of penne with different souses, pizza, barbeque, fresh fruits and drinks. The view to the sea from there is amazing.

Bars: the pool bar and the beach bar offer you local drinks from the AI concept, including coffe from the coffee machine (the quality is nice), but there’s a small note: even if there’re 3 bartenders behind the bar they can’t handle a line of 10 guests, the service goes way too slow, probably the problem is in organization of the working space. At the pool bar for extra cost you can find imported ice-cream (3-6 dinars). At the beach bar there was never a line and you never had to wait for your drink longer than 30 sec – compliments to the bartender.
The 3rd AI bar “Bolero” is located in front of the restaurant and it’s opened from 16:00 till 00:00. Apart from AI local drinks for a fair price you can get shots or cocktails made with imported alcohol. But here are the negative points: in the bar smells like at the dentist’s, due to using chemicals for cleaning, same problem with line of guests waiting to order a drink, at the terrace of the bar there’s always a big challenge to find a free table or chairs or an ashtray. At midnight sharp the bar is closed and nobody cares if there’re still a lot of guests sitting at the terrace. In one of the evenings they shut the door of the bar right in front of my nose and didn’t want to listen to what I had to say or ask. It is normal that AI is finished at midnight, but I have no problem to pay for the drinks, both sides are winning: I’m enjoying my holiday and hotel makes profit, but to shut the door and run was a bit rude.
Service: here I mean waiters and stuarts of bars and restaurants. Probably they have a problem with the team work. No one of them is smiling or tries to chat with guests. They are looking around but don’t see if a guest needs anything, or a table has to be cleaned and set up again for another guest. They have no clue that it’s absolutely ok to ask guests if they want a drink and to bring it to their table and get tips for that. I do believe that if waiters would bring drinks to the tables, the line at the bar would be 3 times shorter and it would go faster and easier. There’s a big problem with ashtrays in the whole hotel except rooms. It’s always hard to find one around the pool, there’re always not enough in the restaurant terrace or bar terrace. There are none of them at the beach itself. As I wrote above while cleaning tables in the restaurant stuarts making a lot of noise, plus chairs at the restaurant and Bolero bar terraces have no plastic covers on the legs, so when you move a chair it makes even more awful noise. Inside of the restaurant there’re ACs, but they were always off. Full height glass windows-doors were always opened and on a windy day it was nice and chill inside, but if there’s no wind than it was way too hot. No matter what is the weather like most of the guests would like to have their dinner outside on the terrace, but there’s again the same problem – not enough tables and chairs.
Advise to the Hotel – put more tables outside of the restaurant, to arrange that you could probably remove sun beds from the restaurant side of the pool. 1/3 of all tables inside the restaurant never gets occupied.

The Hotel’s Souvenir shop: right opposite reception desk there’s a small shop where you can find necessary things like: bottled water, non-alcoholic drinks, sigarets, sun screens and afre sun products, souvenirs, silver, gold, sun glasses, bags, towels and etc. Prices are fixed and not high. There’s no pharmacy in the Hotel or anywhere nearby, but reception will always help you to call a taxi and it will take you 3 minutes to drive to a nearest one.

To resume all written above I must say that the information given by the tour operator is correct, but not full, and of course we knew we were going to a 3* hotel, so our expectations were not high at all. I would recommend this hotel to visit especially for a family holiday as it has all facilities for it: family rooms, kid’s animation. Kid’s pool, slides, shallow sea entrance, pancakes in the afternoon, ice-cream for dinner and variety of fruits. All comments which you might get in a negative way are written not to frighten the future guests, but to prepare them, that expectations would be equal to reality.

Going to the Meninx Club Hotel be sure you will have a good holiday full of joy. The sun is shining and the sea are every day there waiting for you. In spite of the comments above I must say our holiday was very good and I believe we’ll be back next year.

I spent a wonderful week at this hotel during October (low season). This hotel wasn’t full but had a better turnover than most hotels that had to close down. The clients are Czech, German, Italian and French. Here are the good/bad points I noticed:
Good
- Abdoula does a wonderful job of cleaning the pool. I really liked the false wooding around the showers which were better for removing the sand than if tiling
- Rooms in 700s, that have been renovated, have a lot of closet space & shelves/towel rails on the outside terrace are very handy for drying clothes and towels/very big and spacious (too bad they are far from the beach/front desk and have mold in the rooms already)
- Hotel is in touristic zone in walking distance to some shops and Texas disco; on the beach; very well kept-up and clean
- Lots of dancing: classical before show and all types after show until midnight
- Every evening has a show that varies: good mixture of team members and showmen from outside the hotel (Marwin’s tap dancing is superb)
- Has one shop in hotel and the salesmen are not aggressive
- Everyone is very nice and helpful
Bad
- Hotel offers everything but to the minimum (activities/limited food buffet and very repetitive/bottled water doesn’t come in all-inclusive) even though there is a good will from everyone
- Mattresses are available for beach and pool chairs but not free for everyone
- Lots of flies/mosquitoes in the rooms; TV channels are limited (only 1 French channel); no mini bar; 1E/day charge for safe in room or at front desk; no air conditioning after Sept. 1st
- Only 1 outside and 1 inside pool. Don’t know how everyone finds a place during high season.
