Joydive is about a 30 - 40 minute drive outside Patong City and is an all day tour for diving, snorkelling & underwater scooters.
The day we went it was beautiful and hot so good to be on a boat and readily able to go swimming in beautiful blue seas.
We think this may have been a Russian only tour as we were the only group that fluently speak english (we're all from New Zealand) even the instructor didn't know how to speak proper english (so the safety instructions that we received was very broken and basic). The trip was a bit of a diaster for us because we had no idea what was going on most of the time as the instructors were only speaking Russian.
The team take you out on a boat and it takes about 30 mins to get to your destination. The boat is reasonable - nothing amazing.
You do a little snorkeling (again no instructions in english), we think you can do diving because others were doing it but not sure if that was just the instructors or part of the tour (please note, the coral is pretty much dead so don't be expecting anything too major). Then you have lunch which was not tasty. We weren't told what any of the dishes were (although maybe they had said it in Russian). You can help yourself to drinks however its mostly only fizzy, the water is out of a tank (I'm a little anal and only drink water from unopened bottles so wasnt sure if I could trust that water).
Then theres the underwater scooters, it must be noted that these are quite run down (also you cannot go on these if you are pregnant - which no-one told us and we had two pregnant ladies that had paid for it). You ride in underwater scooters for 5 - 10 minutes (not alot to see cause there are next to no fish and the coral is dead) but at least you can say you have ridden an underwater scooter.
Lastly, you do a banana ride - this is extremely tame so don't be expecting too much:)
Also, on the brochure it said that they stop off on the beach and you can relax on the beach for a bit, this is no longer available. Apparently the crew do not have rights to go to a beach so be prepared to be on the boat the whole day.
All in all - wasn't the best tour for us (for Russians the experience might be much better), we were not told that everyone was Russian, we were not told that pregnant woman couldn't go on the scooter, we were not told that they no longer had rights to stop off at the beach, the food was below average and the scooters are badly in need of being upgraded). Should have only been $1000 - $1500 baht.
