I am going to be as impartial as I can be, considering that this is possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, ever, in the history of travel!

There it is, in a nutshell. It even insults the "worst hotel" by being even worse than the worst you can think of and doubling it.

I did try to find the positive aspects of it, but from check in, the experience just spiralled until by the last day I was pleased to be going home.

Let me briefly recap the major points of my rating:

I had booked using booking.com, and the price was already set and agreed. I presented the booking.com sheet/log in code to the reception who promptly disregarded it, asked me (my wife - as they did not speak english) how many days I was staying and what room type I wanted. I circumvented the receptionist using a calculator to calculate the eventual total (which would have been "more" than the pre-agreed price, trust me i have been going to thailand a while now and nothing is ever cheaper!), by pointing to the booking sheet and price and offering the total amount shown, in cash, and the room type.

I was then asked for 200 baht more for the deposit for the key fob. This deposit did not appear in any of the information anywhere, BUT is returnable at the end of the stay presumably when you give the key back.

Finally, we get to the room, it's quite large and has an extremely small balcony, over looking the car park. On first looks we're quite impressed but looking closer (especially after dropping something on the floor, we soon discovered dirt and dust even in the obvious areas. the bathroom had a blocked shower drain and unrelated hair behind the door. (see photos)

We made the best of it, as I discovered the next morning the bed was totally hard/bad for my back (I've had back surgery too), and the air con had not cooled the room hardly despite being on the very lowest and all night. We had intermittent sleep because of these things, plus a few mosquitoes let in during cleaning times when the doors are open. Of course, I was the sufferer there with mossie bites everywhere including my face...

I discovered by chance the balcony door and screen were being left unlocked. while there's little chance of break in via the balcony, except the milk tray guy, why take chances, and I did not like the fact it was previously locked by myself the day before.

So to day one, returning as we did around 10-11pm, we discovered NOTHING had been done in the room: Minimum at other hotels are sheets changed/bed made, bins emptied, toilet roll and water replenished and perhaps a quick sweep/wipe around.

My wife went down and complained (in Thai) - they provided towel and water and said they'd do it tomorrow, no problem.

Tomorrow came, and we returned to find the same thing... I contacted booking com and complained to them, they're normally quite good at negotiating for you, i also told them about the deposit requirement.

The answer we got was, we should put the "sign" on the door knob, saying "please clean room". Guess what? We returned to find un-cleaned room. We're getting a little pissed off now, and my wife jokingly says she wants to be paid for room cleaning! although she wasn't joking..

So day 4, ANOTHER complaint to booking com and I also mention I have to get my wife to tell reception because I dont speak thai and she doesn't have good english so explaining to her is difficult, luckily she can see what is wrong.

The answer is the hotel doesn't have door keys so we even started leaving OUR key, although they entered other rooms for cleaning, and later were entering ours without our key to remove towels...etc

Please bear in mind its 40 centigrade and the aircon is not working well, after 4 days the bedding is the same and unchanged.

The answer came back we should talk the the manager, who suddenly appeared one morning and made a point of saying she spoke english. I tried to get an answer as to why when we complained nothing was ever done, and the sheets were the same and towel/water not left? I also asked why they needed our key but still went in to get the dirty towels...

She told me that things would be better now. Yes, for one day... We played lotto with whether our room was cleaned or not, and often we were right, it wasn't... Or may be half a job whereby they did come in and take the towels but didn't leave new ones.

The bottom sheet had been changed but in 26 days of staying the top sheet duvet cover did not get changed. We know it was the same because we had a slight cut and bled out onto it, and had spillages of creme and coca-cola also. They were still there on departure.

The shower drain was only cleared after telling the manager lady. I also found the toilet blocked up and would not clear on anything except the smallest of bodily evacuations. The first needed professional clearing and the others took 30-minutes of flushing with added help from the water hose. In my opinion this was entirely due to the size of the toilet drain hole.

In the end we discovered a towel stash and we eventually just helped ourselves when we found towels not replenished. More difficult when bottles of water were concerned.

Even complaining in english to the manager lady who spoke english, had intermittent results. In the end we gave up except on return when we had no towels/water and wanted a shower.

On the last few days, we decided to mention the aircon and next day, voila, working great, so much had to turn it up from 16 to 24 it was so cold...

On travelling round khon kaen I saw another studio icheck-inn not far away, but didn't investigate further. I wondered if this other place was additional or a replacement?

By the way if you use a wheelchair or have worse mobility than me, then dont book - the front steps are a nightmare. I didnt ask for an alternative entrance so dont know if there is one or not. There is a ramp, but you would only use it like the kids did, as a slide - it was very steep!

Room tip: DO NOT stay here, except for one night when you'd be okay just..
