The resort is perfect if you're looking for a totally relaxing holiday. We upgraded to a villa with a pool and it was well worth it. The staff were brilliant, made us feel very special and couldn't do enough for us. The resort was clean, friendly and breakfast was good. There was a free shuttle bus into the town or to the sister hotel by the beach.

This place is excellent. There were a lot of activities there like riding bicycle which they provided bicycle for free but it's quite old though. The swimming pool is good and you have an area where you surf Internet and read the book. Breakfast is ok.

However, you need a car to stay here or you can't go anywhere. It's quite far away from the city. Took about 20 - 30 minutes drive to get into the city. If you like to go to temple, it's just about 10 - 15 minutes drive to Wat Huay Mongkol Buddhist Temple.

Room Tip: If you want some private, you may not get it with "The Jasmine Private Villa" since the area will be shared by the total of 4 rooms. Try to be there in the low season period and you may get the whole area just for you.

I stayed here in April 2011 in a 2 bedroom pool villas and have to say it was clean, beautifully furnished and the housekeeping was great. They even came round at turndown and lit candles throughout the villa and round the pool.
Having said that I can see where the negative reviews come from. If you do not have your own pool you would be disappointed by the hotel pool which is in poor repair and overgrown. It could use some updating.
We had breakfast every day and it was OK - nothing special but nice enough. We ate at the restaurant one night and it was beautifully lit and the food was great. We also had room service lunch one day which was fantastic value and prompt.
The staff were good and any requests were met with immediate responses. For a small hotel there are staff everywhere to help you. The free shuttle to town is excellent - my daughter stayed in the holiday inn in Cha-am and their shuttle was 200 baht each way for a ride about the same distance. We used it every day and found it very reliable.
Yes, there are better hotels in Hua Hin I have stayed at but for the money Dhevan Dara is excellent value but book a villa with a pool.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room with a pool

The Dhevan Dara Resort and Spa (DDR) unfortunately looks better on paper than in reality. At so many levels this establishment could be accused of being the great pretender, offering to deliver vastly more than it’s capable of.

The DDR is located about 20mins drive from Hua Hin in the agricultural hills behind town, in the direct area of the resort there is nothing basically, just some cane fields, a couple of shacks and very little else. The resort looks more like a gated community of villas than your traditional resort and generally whilst I am advised the property is only a couple of years old, age has not been kind to the property generally and a lack of maintenance is clearly visible around the place.

There is not a lot of praise to heap upon this place, The Villa’s in general are quite mediocre, the standard of cleanliness and presentation is hit and miss, the décor terrible and the beds not much better. The pools are nice but I never seen it cleaned and the pool filter frame remained on the bottom of the pool where it had fallen the entire stay. The outside spaces are nice enough within the confines of each villa but don’t come here expecting a polished resort experience.

The property features several bars and a main restaurant. I did find the food quite okay in the restaurant with a couple of fine moments The Crab Fried Rice was very solid as are the Thai Deserts and the weekend breakfast buffet which is vastly superior to the weekday offering had great Thai Coffee. If a morning Tom Yum Soup is your thing to get the engine going this place will tick that box very well. Service at all times was good the restaurant in many respects is better than the resort generally when all is considered.

The DDR does offer a shuttle service thru the day and evening at various times to both Hua Hin ( Clocktower ) and the DDR own Beach Club area ( Didn’t go, the beaches for the most part around here didn’t strike me as overly remarkable but the further south you go the better they get generally ) you have to book your seat and the bus does fill up quickly. A hotel car to take you different places is available from about 1000 baht upwards. We took Hotel Car and the driver manager to not only got lost taking us to an attraction that was closed but then wanted us to pay extra. ( Poor form from a Hotel Car I have to say )

I do however like Hua Hin, Downtown at night it’s a nice family environment. The market and restaurants are quite good, the shops for the most part are as good as any beach resort ( Some of the tailors have really good deals ) the bar scene is not anywhere near as full on as other areas which is a change ( Don’t come here expecting Pattaya or Patong Beach Phuket etc ) My next visit would see me choosing either something in Cha-Am or the Hilton or Sofitel downtown as for the DDR never again folks never again.

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs!!!
