Because it's a long trip up even if it's not raining! We booked a cab (who thankfully waited) and clambered up through amazing rain forest territory. Hadn't counted on humidity (in September) being quite so fierce and was glad I'd anti-mosquito sprayed heavily beforehand. Suggest sandals or sth water-friendly (at this time of year) since fair amount of brooks which need 'wading' through. Had read a review which (I'm guessing at a quieter time of year) suggested swimming under the fall - we'd packed swimwear obvs. When we reached summit the view is truly stunning but the final drop down to the water too scary for us wimps. Super experience nevertheless and glad we made the effort
