The price was good. The bed was comfortable. The shower was wonderful - plenty of water pressure and a really nice shower head. Since our bedroom faced the freeway, we heard every 'engine break' of the trucks. If you are not used to sleeping near a freeway, this can be disruptive. The breakfast selection was slim. The pancake machine was broken our first morning. Otherwise it is very similar to the breakfasts at other, similar hotels.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of the USS Slater and the SUNY plaza which is a very impressive building.

We were pleased to discover a ChargePoint Electric Vehicle Charger at the hotel and two parking places for electric vehicles (EV). We parked and charged our first night. The next day, we drove off to do some sightseeing. When we returned in the evening, both parking places were 'ICEd' (Internal Combustion Engine cars were parked in the EV parking places). It turned out that hotel staff members had parked in both places. One moved their car so we could charge. In the morning, we noticed that the other car had not been moved. An electrical Prius was not able to park next to us, but they were lucky enough to have a long enough cord to be able to reach from the charger to their car on the street.

Jean_on_a_beach,

Thank you for sharing and we are incredibly happy you were able to utilize the FREE electric charging port.

We do apologize if a staff member was parked in one of those spaces, however glad they moved to accommodate you.

On the 2nd car if it had not been moved, than it was a guest, and not a staff member. We do our best to police this, and it is an underused amenity we provide.

The Prius you noted is a local employee, not a hotel guest or employee who utilizes the charge port.

We really liked the size of the room, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was very good!

My pet peeve is a hotel key not working. After lugging the luggage cart up to the room while my husband wrangled our one year old, the key didn't work. So I had to lug everything back to the lobby and then up once again. The second pet peeve is when doors do not shut properly. The bathroom door did not fully close, and the room door had to be forcefully opened each time bc it was sticking. Lastly, the hotel was not in the best area:(

WindsorON,

I am so very sorry this inconvenience. Doors should be a simple item that works properly upon your arrival and I can only imagine having to worry about the luggage and your child.

Please get in touch with me.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express - Downtown Albany, for the first time, recently, and were very impressed. The hotel recently underwent a complete renovation and everything is new. Our stay was midweek and we got a huge room wth twin queen beds for $108.00. That includes tax! The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. When we were leaving, I asked for directions and the young lady printed a map for me with step-by-step directions.
The breakfast area was very large, with lots of seating and the food was considerably better than many hotel breakfasts I've had. Parking might be a little tight, when the hotel is full, but there were plenty of spaces during our mid-week visit. The hotel has it's own shuttle and they seemed willing to transport us just about any place we wanted to go. The shuttle took us to a show at an uptown venue and picked us up when it was over. We found a nice little pub, a five minute walk away, that serves delicious Cajun food, so the car stayed parked for our entire visit.
Yes, this is not the nicest location, as others have mentioned, but, if you're in the area on business or you have a specific purpose, such as we did, this place is a superior value.

My new husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We stayed for one night on our way out to Maine for our honeymoon. When we checked in the front desk person asked what brought us to Albany and we said it was our honeymoon and they said we didn’t look like we were married. We were sure how to take that but we didn’t really appreciate it. However, the room was beautiful and the breakfast was perfect! We would stay here again in a heartbeat if we find ourselves in Albany.

Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your enjoyment and I do apologize for any misinterpretation on the part of my staff. Seems a completely inappropriate comment though I give people the benefit of the doubt.

Can you let me know when you checked in? I cannot determine anything about your reservation with us through TA

Would recommend, it may be in a not so great area of Albany, but honestly for people passing through and just staying one night, it's perfect. Plus there is a cute little ramen restaurant (about 5 minute car ride away) that is open until 10pm and great for people arriving to Albany late at night. Very well priced hotel (getting a room for under $100 in a good hotel these days is hard) and nice large flat screen tv in the room. Overall would stay again.
