The accommodations are very comfortable! Lots of space, unlimited drinking water, very clean, air conditioning good. We kept the bedroom door closed so we weren't trying to cool the whole suite. The ceiling fan in the sitting area was adequate for us. The food was very good. When traveling in a foreign country do not expect food to be the same as what you are used to. Breakfast was buffet: American style cereal, muffins, fruit, omelet bar, waffles or Asian style rice beans, stir fry. I loved the stirfries. I can eat American food at home. I liked the stirfries and they spiced them to my preference. I also added three new fruits to my diet!
Lunch was on the dive boat for us. We were on the boat from 8-4ish everyday. Full hot lunch served: rice, meat, fish, vegetable, fruit, cookies. Dive guides are top notch. One guide to 4 people. Noldy was with us. He was great at finding us critters to photograph. There were 12 of us that traveled together. We have each done quite a bit of dive travel. We agree the diving experience at Tasik Ria is exceptional! "This is the first trip I have been on where I didn't have to touch my stuff", one of our group mentioned. I am a Nitrox diver, so I analyzed my own tank and put the regulator on. If you dive air, you do nothing. Your stuff...The accommodations are very comfortable! Your stuff stays in your basket on the boat, the guides rinse everything in fresh water at the end of the day. The boat is easy to get off and on when diving. There are shady places and places for sunning on the boat. The varieties of clownfish were amazing. Different personalities in different species. Huge hawksbill turtles, tiny pigmy seahorses, lionfish galore!
Camillo runs the dive operation. We saw him showing training videos, during lunch the guides were discussing their recent CPR course. It was the most current version I was recently taught at the hospital. He also was in the water one day checking on each of his dive guides.
Dan runs the resort. He was available most days if we needed anything. We didn't. The Spa is great. I had massages by Anna. You receive a free 15 minute massage good the day you arrive or the day after. It was welcome after the long travel to get there. Lovely hot ginger tea served at the end. Very reasonably priced.
Dinner was buffet or menu. I preferred buffets as I like lots of different flavors. The menu had burgers and pizza too. No mosquitoes seen. They must spray well.
The swimming pool is large and clean with a swim-up bar on one end.
We would go back in a heartbeat. We highly recommend Tasik Ria!More
