Five of us went for a look around, there were some old ruin buildings with ornate stone carved mythical beasts in. The cave itself, you walk in through a mouth and there are a couple small plain shrines inside the dimly lit cave which is part of a wall. There are plenty of men touting for business as storytellers. Luckily there are some stalls selling cold drinks too.

The Temple itself is difficult as it is dark; however the outside pools and paths are lovely if you go early in the day before the crowds. Don't be fooled into buying a sarong by the carpark vendors, the temple provides them free of charge

This place was just okay. The only thing impressive about it was the cave itself, where apparently in the past, it used to be a meditation cave. The carvings are truly amazing. The rest of it is pretty ordinary I think. Easy walk through, there are guides around ready to help you to tell you the history and heritage behind it etc. Prepare to walk around, and have an open mind. Definitely worth a visit though!

The elephant cave itself is very nice and a special place to go when in Ubud and is also located within a beautiful nature in a sort of small park. However, you should be aware of lots of selfie-addicted people, so you have to be patient if you want to have your own picture in front of the cave.
You need a sarong to enter the park but you can rent them for free directly in front of the entrance. So don’t let anyone convince you to buy a sarong at the parking area, it’s just scam!
You don’t need more than half an hour/hour to visit this place.

We did a daytour and as part of it visited this temple and cave. The whole complex is not that big and we spent about 45 mins here. More then enough to see it all. To me nothing special, but I guess if you are into Hindi religion its a special thing.
