We recently stayed at this beautiful villa outside of Ubud and we couldn't have been much happier! My wife and I, along with my two teenage kids and a friend of one of them, found the space and the ease of being there fantastic. Room and spacious, the villa is probably better for a bigger family -- or even two families looking to travel together. Dewa, the manager, is a lovely and gentle host who made the stay there warm and inviting. Either by shuttling us in and out of Ubud, helping us find great places to eat, or getting us to a doctor to deal with a small medical issue, he made the most of his skills, experience, and good nature to make the stay work for us. Breakfasts of fresh fruit and yogurt, as well as eggs and bacon, offered us a beautiful way to start each day. The house is very tastefully decorated and is stunningly situated among the rice paddies and other houses of people living in Sebali. At the end of the road, there's a path through the paddies that takes you to the bottom of Ubud - a healthy 45+ minute walk, but one that is very worth taking and not too demanding at all. There are so many beautiful places to see and stay in Ubud that it begs staying at another villa on a return trip, however our experience there will make it difficult to turn away from Villa Sebali on our next trip to Ubud,

The pictures of this place do it no justice! The service was amazing! me and 6 friends stayed 3 nights...great brekkie every morn, free ride and pick up from town, they arranged a whole slow cooked suckling pig for us on our last night!!

The rooms are insane, the whole house is indoor/outdoor living. Shower and bath are semi out doors.. Candle light and baby frogs jumping around while you have a shower!

Infinity pool and amazing view of rice patties. Totally private and secure..you can party all night with loud music no probs.

We tipped the staff heavily because they blew us away with their care. When we were living we mentioned we needed to buy mint and lime to make mojitos at the next place we were staying..and they gave us limes and picked a bag of fresh mint for us from the garden!

10 out of 10 who needs a beach when you have Sebali!!!!

Room tip: Every room was amazing, me and a friend took the 'second best' room which was self contain4ed with its own balcony overlooking the pool and rice paddies! Awesome!

Great environment (in the rice fields) and wonderful service. A place to recommend if you stay with a large family or group to visit Ubud. Best of all is the really caring service staff & manager. In difference to other places, they are not only friendly & helpful, but also efficient. Oh, and do not forget ear plugs - there are thousands of chickens that will wake you wake you up at 5 am every mornig. But again, it's in the rice fields ...

I stayed at the beautiful Villa Sebali with seven girlfriends in August 2012. From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for a treat. The staff were warm and accommodating. Dewa, the manager, has a very special quality. There is a quiet strength about him. We learned a great deal about Balinese culture and way of life from him. He never tired of our many questions. Ayu and Ketut are fine cooks. It was a pleasure to have a meal cooked for us at the end of each day's adventure. All the staff were ready with smiles and it was lovely to see them carrying out the daily offerings ritual.
The bedrooms are spacious, beds comfortable and views delightful.
The villa is surrounded by forest and rice paddies. There is a walk path through the rice paddies that leads to a small temple.
Once you have visited Ubud, you realise that being 10 minutes north is actually a bonus. I love Ubud - I enjoy visiting the markets, the rice paddy walks from the centre, and my favourite street -Jalan Kajeng to visit Threads of Life, but I did enjoy returning to our little piece of paradise. A driver was available to drop us into Ubud and return later to collect us. Afternoon tea was served each day and was a nice way of coming together after a day out.
We spent one day downhill cycling with Jegeg Cycling - chosen specifically because they keep the groups to 8 people. An excellent day out.
The villa is not far from the artist village of Keliki. Although on my list of 'things to do' I didn't make it on this trip, but is certainly one of the day trips Dewa could organize for you.
On our final day, Dewa dropped us off nearby at the start of the Ridge Walk. This is a beautiful, easy walk to Ubud. We then did some last minute shopping and a little later a driver collected us from Ubud, with luggage packed, and transferred us to Seminyak. (A BIG come down after beautiful Ubud!)
Our stay at Villa Sebali enhanced our overall experience of the Ubud area and I will definitely stay again at the villa to explore this area further.

Villa Sebali has a staff of the most beautiful souls I have ever come across. No request is too much for the manager Dewa. He is professional, efficient and a beautiful person. The cooking by Ayu and Ketut is top class, and with two cooks in the family this is high praise. We ate in most nights. A special dinner for a visiting godmother was organised without fuss by the pool with candle light and flower arrangements. The most delious barbequed prawns, snapper and multiple indonesian dishes was served, each to our delight.
Villa Sebali is just 10 minutes easy drive or 40 easy walk through villages to Ubud. We enjoyed trips into Ubud for shopping and art galleries, white water rafting through the forest, Monkey Forest and kacek dancing.
Our large adult family had a once in a lifetime holiday with a large communal living area and private bedroom spaces. The gardens and pool are divine. The views of rice paddys, mountains, forest and sky are breath taking. Especially from the Sky Bedroom space which is enormous. We were all sad to leave our new Bali home and family. We felt privileged to be made part of their Bali family
