Just an amazing way to celebrate my 50th, one month in paradise. Beautiful tropical outlook, amazing wildlife and wonderful service.
Tera's sungai is a private and secluded villa set amongst the tropical vegetation on the banks of a local river, providing a natural beautiful setting for an incredible beautifully designed villa that includes pleasent modern luxury without losing the uniqueness of the traditional Balinese style of outdoor living.
The staff are carefully chosen for their caring and knowlegable expertise and nothing is too much trouble. Wayan is attentive yet discreet and takes huge pride in his job to look after his visitors and the villa, he also makes an amazing banana pancake and a mixed juice to die for.
Kath and Wayan are the managers and check in regularly, again nothing is too much trouble and their local knowledge and pleasure to share their expertise really adds a welcoming touch.
The villa provided the perfect back drop for my 50th birthday, Kath and Wayan helped to organize my celebration dinner for 35 people including Accomodation at there beautiful boutique resort "Samas Cottage" next door to the villa.
As a seasoned traveller to beautiful Bali I will definitely be returning to Tera's sungai villa, what a find and what an incredible way to spend my birthday. Thank you to all for making me so welcome. Jane

Our stay in the beautiful Villa Teras Sungai could not have been more perfect! We enjoyed the lush landscaping and treetop/canopy views while relaxing to the sounds of the creek below. We loved listening to the many birdcalls and gecko squeaks. The layout of the villa was superb, two well-cared for rooms and bathrooms upstairs, with gorgeous living and dining pavilions and a sparkling pool below. The location, off quiet Bisma Street in the center of Ubud, was ideal. The street itself was great, with a convenient mini-market, spa and two excellent restaurants nearby. Yet just a short walk along a path off the street, and we arrived at a quiet and completely private oasis, where we always felt safe and looked after.
We enjoyed the comfy beds and great showers, and the divine, made-to-order tropical breakfasts. Our daughter sampled every tropical juice imaginable, all graciously prepared by the staff. The wonderful staff also kept the property in immaculate condition and placed flowers everywhere on a daily basis. We were not bothered by mosquitos in the least due to the diligence of the staff and placement of coils. It was particularly hot in Ubud during our visit, but the property always stayed cool and the pool was blissfully refreshing. Kath and Wayan, could not be more accommodating, starting with the booking process, the correspondence prior to our trip and to our warm welcome upon our arrival at Teras Sungai. Kath was just lovely, answered so many of my questions, and made sure that our stay at the villa was the best part of our trip to Bali! I highly recommend this property without reservation and look forward to a return someday!

My friend and I spent a delightful 10 days at Villa Teras Sungai. As soon as you walk through the gate and down the stone path, you know you've reached an enchanting and secret place. Nestled into the lush surrounding forest, this villa has all the creature comforts of home, yet is in an exquisite natural setting. The photos do not do the place justice. It is spacious and beautiful - the perfect place to unwind and relax. Yet only a few minutes walk up the street, and you are in the heart of Ubud.
The managers Kath and Wayan were extremely helpful without being intrusive. Our breakfasts were delicious and plentiful and available whenever it suited us. The best thing was the beauty, space and how close we were to nature. Geckos, frogs and roosters abound, but only enhanced our experience of getting away from the city. Air conditioning is not available, but is unnecessary and would detract from the experience that Teras Sungai offers.
For those that crave peace in a natural setting whilst still being close to all amenities, this really is the place to stay. I will be recommending it to all my friends. We were really sad to leave. Thank you Kath, Wayan and all the boys for creating such a memorable experience for us. We hope to see you again soon.

Right in the heart of Ubud but private and secluded at the same time, not always quiet early mornings as the roosters across the way were quite annoying and persistent--perhaps the only drawback. Kath and Wayan, the managers, (and their darling children) were gracious and welcoming and kept us apprised of great activities, arranged excellent drivers, and kept us very comfortable. The breakfast was lovely with bali kopi and eggs or pancakes. with a sculpted array of local fruit, each morning on our schedule. The staff were delightful and helpful and kept everything pristine. The property itself is lovely and lushly landscaped, with sparkling pool, separate dining, living room and sleeping pavilions. It should be noted that while essentially private and enclosed, the sleeping and bathroom areas are thatched and are somewhat open to local flora and fauna (geckos). No air conditioning present or needed. Rustic comes to mind but in an elegant and refined sort of way, everything is both indoor and outdoor so it is a more authentic Bali home experience than the standard, enclosed resort hotel experience. We loved our 10 day stay here and would return in a flash!
