Description: Southeast Asia is cradled by two oceans- stretching east from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific. Each country adds its rich history as an ingredient to its dishes. The Chef therefore has many tools at his arsenal and strives for a harmonious balance of textures, temperatures and all four flavors: sweet, sour, salty, bitter. Even though each nation remains culturally and historically unique, they also do have a great deal in common cuisine share histories as well as many staple ingredients and methods of cooking. Here in Layang Layang, Indonesian name for kites, we serve a delicious selection of South East Asia cuisine. All the parts of a meal are presented at once and eaten together. As a result, the food experience is not an individual one, but one to be shared with family and friends.

All my reviews are contextual: if a place positions itself as a 3 star hotel, I will rate it according to that. If it rates itself as a 5 star resort, then the comparisons will be based upon the global standards of that.

With that said, I am rating the Sunday lobster brunch at the Fairmont, Sanur.

It was a sad and very underwhelming meal. I felt bad for the shellfish that were killed in preparation for this brunch. It felt like they were on anti-depressants.

-Venue: 4/5
-Service: 3.5/5
-Entertainment: 4/5 (3 piece band)
-Food taste: 2/5 (considering Fairmont standards, 5 star resort standards and food in general)
-Food selection: 3/5
- Would I recommend this?: not in this lifetime

We were staying for six nights and read about the Sunday Brunch - famous for crayfish, oysters and a 'to die for' seafood Laksa. So we booked for three (we had our 2 year old with us) and we were very impressed. We had a drinks package as well and although not cheap, it was very good value for money. Highly recommended and the restaurant was full so that says a lot as well.

We go often for asian food in Layang Layang restaurant with my family and we love all the dishes, coconut drink and the great service.
We cannot wait to comeback and try the Indonesian set menu.
