Honestly I didn't know about the Mulia until recently and just had a wonderful & enchanting stay here after 5 nights at the Villa Sanctuary in Canggu. The hotel is so big you could literally get lost. Despite the size, there were always calm corners of tranquility one could find. We stayed in a nice big villa with nice toiletries, tried a few of the restaurants with endless choices of cuisine, the owners regularly have the best Michelin chefs at their Jakarta hotel (ie they had Massimo Bottura of osteria francescana there last month) & their love and craziness about food shows here in Bali. I had two 90 min massages (Asian blend and Balinese) and I could see why the spa wins awards all over the place. We slept in the most comfortable beds, ate too much, spa-ed, took photos of a magnificent sunrise, the dramatic architecture, the interesting art work and paintings around, were looked after by our butlers, soaked for many hours at the beach front bar where we found a happy compromise between our 9 screaming superhyper kids and us adults that were looking for a more sedate past time.
