We have stayed at the Kumala Pantai on 3 occassions and are already booked for 2012. This hotel is very popular because of it's central location and being one of the few hotels that has direct access to the beach via the hotel restaurant. We have had friends that have stayed here and hated it but then if you are looking for luxury then this is not the place for you. The pools and gardens are fantastic. Everything is very reasonably priced. Rooms are large. . But for value for money this place is great. Staff are really friendly though I have heard comments to the contrary - but then those people were just ignorant! Sheets and towels are changed every day though towels are on the small side and were getting a bit worn last time so if you like large fluffy towels bring your own. We have taken our own pillows (which we leave behind) but they are happy to provide you with more

Room Tip: My main tip would be to ask for a room in the new blocks (they know what you mean) or failing that in B or Y block.

Have just returned from Bali and stayed at the same 2 hotels - this one KP, and Kusnadi (which is a small, cute & traditional Bali hotel very nearby). We simply could not have been happier with both accommodations - absolutely no complaints. KP is such a visually lovely place - the gardens & divine pools in particular. The statuary is a little OTT but overall its fabulous. I really recommend the poolside lunches (Mozzerella Calabrese my favourite & the burgers are great) - very well priced and great quality. Also try the Bali white wine (Australian wine bottled in Bali) - much better priced than the crap imported wines on offer and at about A$2.50 per glass very drinkable. Try not to get a third floor room as we did this time ( I wasn't complaining, just thought of the fitness benefit) and the pool view rooms are preferable to the garden view (even from 3 floors up!). Again we enjoyed the great location of this hotel and for the price I think it is great value. This really is a tranquil oasis in the midst of the hustle & bustle of Legian - Will return again (The Kusnadi also - new review of this one to follow soon)

Very large hotel with 2 great pools, on beachfront Legian. Stayed in Block A 2nd floor in an Ambassador Suite, one king bedroom, one twin bedroom, roll away in living area, 2 bathrooms, 2 TV's, 2 balconies. Daughter & boyfriend stayed next door in a deluxe room. Rooms were good, everything worked, very clean, large bathroom in the king bedroom of Ambassador Suite. Lovely sitting on the balcony looking over the very large old tree with squirrels playing on it. Friends stayed in the new Blocks S & SG around the new pool.

Only had breakfast some days, not much variety fairly plain. Staff not as friendly or outgoing as I have met elsewhere in Bali. Some good entertainment with bands some nights at the beachfront Restaurant area.

Beachfront end (back of hotel) is opposite the beach great view in the morning. Easy walk to the beachside restaurants. Front of hotel is set back from the road. Easy access to shops, bars, restaurants, Seminyak, Bintang Supermarket etc. Plenty of cabs or drivers out the front.

Used laundry across the front street toward the left hand corner down a little laneway. Very cheap ready the next day. Hotel Spa was way to expensive so go out to the street or beach for a massage.

Would stay here again but we now prefer the smaller more personalized as only travel as a couple most of the time. hotels

Room Tip: The older blocks rooms are fine. Ambassador Suite great for families with kids.

Booked by phone directly to the hotel. smooth and easy process. Great location with a great beach for the kids. Very clean room, nice garden with good swimingpools. Lots of restorants near by. Free wi-fi at the restorant but you have to pay for in-room wi-fi. Overall, it's a good hotel for family with nice staff.

After much research a friend and i decided on this hotel. We we'nt dissapointed. We could'nt book through the usual web sites so rang the hotel direct, quick efficient and one nights deposit which at AUD 87 was pretty good value.
We arrived at 1am and where in our room in 10 min no credit details ect just passport and shown to our room.
We where in B block just to the left of reception on bottom floor just a few steps from pool.
Room was large, with big bathroom. Seperate bath with shower over and seperate shower with glass pivot door. Limited toiletries, soap only renewed when ran out and shampoo and shower gel in dispensers on wall in shower but for the price adequate.
Normal TV not flat screen but good reception and good remote.
Two bottles of water a day and decent size fridge.
Room service prompt on all occassions for more pillows and tea bags in less tha 5 min !!
No mozzie problem in room did'nt see one but at dusk there where some near pool.
Only problem with room was beds very hard took a few days to get used to also room very dark, we took lamp shade of in the end and that was sufficient. Patrons on other floors said light was no problem in there rooms as they where higher up, but then you do have stairs to climb.
Only one ocassion when pool guy not there but after short swim he appeared.
Both pools where sensational, deep, steps in and out and crystal clear cool water.
Breakfast had a beautifull setting, dinning inside or out, looking at rolling surf with daily paper from home sold by hawkers out front.
Breakfast was good not much change from day to day pancakes alternating with bannana fritters, bacon daily and same two juices and only one cereal. Great fruit never ran out.
Fantastic egg man three pans at once beautifully cooked and quick. Assorted bread and cousaunts.
Very good location very nice restraunts just to the right of entrance,
Out back door where we checked in very cheap good laundry also internet cafe to the right did our webcheck in there and upgraded our baggage on Airasia due to excessive shopping, Taxi AUD 3 to main shopping at Kuta and AUD 5 to airport.
Friendly staff immaculate gardens.
One negative twice woken at 845 for room clean even though we had no room clean light on, other patron said the same.
Loved it would stay again at AUD 620 for 7 nights

Room Tip: B block quite near pool Ground floor rooms dark but secong and third bright
