The steps make it even more interesting to go. There are many steps but there's a lovely view in all the way. I think is part of the charm of the temple area. The charm of the temple are the carvings. We got there around 8:00am and we had the place to ourselves.

Took some cool Polaroids here. Drove the scooter here from Canggu was such a cool trip. The temple was lovely mossy, green and cool. Few stairs to climb to get there great workout. Water fall was really pretty too.

Ok so there are alot of steps to get down to this place and yes the walk back up can be 2 weeks workout in 30 minutes...... but IT IS WORTH IT! Trust me - I had to stop 6 times climbing back up those steps but would do it again.
On the walk down (and back up) you pass beautiful rice fields and many stores selling hand crafted gifts and well needed cold bottled water.
At the base of the walk you come across the amazing and huge carvings in the cliff walls. This you would think was all that was there but there are beautiful path walks along streams and under hanging trees that lead to small secluded temples dotted around the site.
I wish I hadn't visited as part of such a busy tour as would have loved to spend a little longer there. I was not aware that the site also provided culture dance show evenings otherwise would have certainly gone to one.

Came here when staying in Ubud, however was a little disappointed. Over 200 stairs which is a bit exhausting especially in the Bali heat! Stone carvings and beautiful surroundings were enjoyable, however we were expecting a temple to explore. Ended up staying about 10 minutes before making the exhausting trek back up the stairs and journey back to Ubud.

Gunung temple is a must see! The temple is carved into stone. This is amazing! Surrounded by beautiful scenery and rice fields. One of my favorite excursions!
