A great spot to spend some time after visiting the Taj. Reasonable rates and good breakfast buffet. Small bar but good place to unwind. Nice grounds and pool. Staff was helpful and obliging. Lots of comings and goings with tour buses and groups but overall, good value for money.

This hotel sounded as though it would the best one on our tour, but we were a little disappointed. The gardens are well-kept & roof-top view of the Taj Mahal is impressive. It wasn't warm enough to swim in the pool & we felt that the restaurants were pricey so ate lunch & dinner at the Riao almost next door. Our Kuoni tour was quite busy so none of this was a problem - we stayed 2nts then moved on.

We (me and my wife) made a 2D/1N trip to Agra in the last week of Jan 2012 and after some pondering over where to stay, we decided upon Clarks Shiraz. No regrets. We wanted something that was close to a 4 or 5 star place but not at the sort of prices that such hotels normally have! Well, don't we all? :-)

We liked the combination of a good hotel (sort of 4-starish, almost) + reasonable price that Clarks Shiraz offered. (Being one of the older properties in Agra, part of a hotel chain that is mostly present in the Hindi belt, the hotel is spread over a large area.) SInce we went in winter, cannot comment on airconditioning but hot & cold water was running fine. The linens were clean and we found the staff helpful.

Our package included complimentary buffet dinner (on night of stay) and breakfast on the day of check-out. However, due to fog-related delays, we reached Agra post midnight and thought we had missed our "free" dinner -- but the hotel guys told us we could still order room service from a limited selection (at that late hour), and that would be complimentary. We appreciated it (free, warm dinner after a long tiresome journey on a cold wintry day is a wonderful thing to have).

The breakfast spread was so-so, and the restaurant could do with some refurbishing. The staff's unforms too ought to be changed, especially those in the restaurants. And yes, someone needs to tell the guys in the kichen that when they joke, scream or fight inside the kitchen, guests sitting in the dining area can hear them!!

The Taj Mahal's dome was visible from the restaurant (on the 5th/6th floor - cant recall). There are autoricks available right at the gate of the hotel and typicall charge about Rs 50 to take you to the West Gate. And the Taj Mahal, of course, was worth the visit!

Perfect hotel for a small trip to agra. Staff is very friendly and the rooms are good also. The hotel has a very cooperative travel desk who can provide cars at a very short notice and at a very resonable price. When we booked in we had no car reserved for siteseeing but the hotel helped us and immediately provided us with a vehicle. Also the hotel has a lovely resturant and the morning buffet is also quite delicious. Over all a lovely place to stay for your agra visit.

Room Tip: If with a family tell them while booking that u need connected rooms and they do provide u so like w...

We stayed for one night while we were doing a tour of the golden triangle and it was a descent stay. its quiet an old looking hotel and this is seen throught the hotel with the decor and also the hotel room looking abit old skool. we had the superior room with a good view of the Taj Mahal. the bathroom was adequate but the water pressure was shocking when sometimes no water would come out for a few seconds and when it did it would be a dribble so trying to have a shower was abit of a mission. the swimming pool looked nice but again not heated and it was very cold. trying to get to it was awkward as we had to go down one tower then walk through the shopping area then to the other tower, then through the small restaurant near the front desk and then out the door and then a long walk round a run down area where shops used to be. we used the gym which was ok. and then asked to use the jaccuzi which we had to pay for which i thought was odd, even so we went so use it and about 2min later the water level started to fall. i looked over the edge and saw all this black water coming out which was pretty gross. so after the staff apologised we just went back to the room to get ready for dinner. The Mughal restaurant is very nice set up with a lot of great choice of food. the food we ordered was delicious. unfortuantley the service was slow and this was fustrating. also one addvice is that the staff let the customer know the size of the portions as we had clearly over ordered and ended up wasting food which also was not cheap. this could have been avoided with better clarification from the staff.
