The Fort is really a large stone palace rather in that whilst it is build for defence, the interior is all about splendour. It’s in reasonable condition, tough it does suffer form zero labelling and could do with a decent audio like the fort at Jodhpur.

It’s worth visiting in the morning as the heat in the stone courtyards in the afternoon can be brutal.

We hired a guide and went to Agra fort. It’s definitely not worth it. There is nothing significant about it. The guide was a total waste of money as well.

Most people go to Agra just to visit the Taj Mahal. If they do they miss out on such an important part of history related to the Taj Mahal. Agra Fort was built by Emperor Akbar (who's son Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal) and was where Shah Jahan died in a prison that his son built that overlooks the Taj Mahal. It really is worth visiting - however many forts you have already visited!

Things to keep in mind:

- The Agra Fort is HUge and beautiful but as far as walking is concerned, so if you are not prone to walking 3km-5km or you have to carry a kid, you might have trouble exploring the whole fort.

- Please do not forget to keep enough water in your kitty, especially if you are visiting this in summers

- Also, try to book your ticket online as you might get rush to buy the ticket locally and enter the fort.

- Even if you have bought online ticket, you still need to take another Rs 10 per person ticket for some toll tax

- Cameras including DSLRs are allowed.

- Although there is Parking available in front of the Fort, but to save time, its advisable to travel there by Battery Rickshaw or local transport to avoid Parking hassles. The Parking ticket costs Rs 80.

- Try to keep a Hat/Cap and/or sunglasses especially if you are visiting in summers

We spent a couple hours here in the middle of the day, very hot and crowded with people. Stick to the shaded areas and take your time to take it all in,
Well worth the time to visit this great Fort as it has so much history and stories within.
Get a guide to show you around as they will inform you of all history
