“on top of the world”
Review of Doddabetta Peak

Doddabetta Peak
Reviewed 31 May 2018

People do feel on top of the world. On one side is Ooty and on the other it's Coonor. Temperature was so pleasant when we went up. Unfortunately telescopic lens was closed that day.

The road leading to the peak is bad and bumpy. The facility for parking is minimal compared to the crowds that go there. There are so so many people there at any time .. it seems only like a cliched 'must visit in Ooty' place. There are much more beautiful places to see if one merely drives out of Ooty towards the villages such as Melur Hosatty.

The views from this place are nice. We had fog all around so all we could see was fog. It's too commercialized and too crowded. Parking is a mess due to crowd. There are loads of monkeys around who are hungry and looking for food. One of them even attacked a child as it was scared of loads of humans in the area. In my opinion the place should be closed for public to keep its natural beauty alive. The commercialization is spoiling the animal life around the area.

Had a lot of expectations here. But there was a lot of crowd!! Not an inch space to watch something in peace. Views were definitely good but did not have place to watch it because of crowd. This is Definitely not for me.

There are lot of stalls(food and toys mostly) all through the way. And yeah there is atleast 1 and half km walk to inside.

Visited with family including parents. I think this place has lost its charm. Too crowded with vendors now. The views are ok but I have had better views from other places too. Too much littering by tourists. You can visit as it’s the highest peak but don’t have lot of expectations.
