Owner description: Experience the culture of Madurai with this private tour of its ancient temples. Spend approximately 45 minutes visiting each of the Dravidian temples built by the Pandyan and Madurai Nayak kings, earning the city its nickname Koil Maanagar, which means Temple City. Discover why Madurai, also called the City of Junctions or Koodal Nagaram, is one of India's most outstanding Hindu pilgrimage centers.

We based our entire trip to southern India to visit this temple and we weren't disapointed. Amazing place and we felt honoured to be allowed to visit. A word of warning, take special socks to wear as you must remove footwear before entry, and the floors get very hot in the sun!

A huge and vast temple where you could spend almost 2 hours. It is better if you take a ticket for the special Darshan by paying 100 rupees. You can spend some time in the temple and get to know more by hiring a guide, however the guides aren't that effective and moreover their ultimate objective is to take you to a textile shop and make your purchase. Nevertheless the temple is a must visit.

This temple is more than 3000 years old and one of the famous temples in South India located in the Heart of Madurai City in Tamil Nadu State in India. Deities are Goddess Sri Meenashi Amman and Sundareshwarar (God Shiva). The Structures and painting on the ceilings and on walls are marvelous paintings from old times which are renovated and well maintained. If you have come in the Morning, recommended visit in the evening and spend some time near the Golden Lotus Theppa Kulam (small pond in the middle of the temple) you will not feel the summer Heat when you sit ther in the evenings. The Temple is very clean and well maintained. MOBILE PHONES ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE TEMPLE NOW A DAYS.

A perfect Marvel of Architecture and which is extremely to the minute of the details. The temple is 400 years old renovated and properly maintained. One of the largest in South India. It takes almost a day to visit the temple completely and observe its sanctity to the best. The paintings and statues are a must to check out for their intricate work and crafting. The main deity Idol is like real to life. The temple performs all the rituals everyday. A wonderful experience inside the temple complex.
