Climbing up the Pasumalai hill on a winding road to the hotel we passed a sign urging caution because of mongoose traffic. No sooner had the meaning of the sign registered than our understanding was confirmed by one of the furry creatures crossing the road in front of us. The driver told us the hill was also known for peacocks and we saw several of them during our stay.
The rooms are spacious and well provisioned with everything for a comfortable stay. The hotel covers about 60 acres, and its grounds are perfect for a casual stroll or looking over the panorama of the city below. The manager told me that the hotel was built in the 1890s as the residence of a British industrialist. He lived well, it seems, and guests can experience a bit of it today.
The hotel has spacious verandas a cozy bar, a swimming pool, spa, Ayurveda Center, and meeting space.
The hotel staff speak excellent English and were exceptionally courteous and helpful. This hotel is a perfect getaway for a romantic weekend or a business meeting.More
