Jhoomar Baori is a heritage property of RTDC. Erstwhile shikar lodge of the Jaipur royalty, the castle indeed looks like a castle from a distance. It's about a couple of km inside the forest, off the road leading to the Ranthambore forest, on top of a small hillock. In fact the last bit of the road is very steep. Loaded autos possibly cannot reach right upto the entry door.
Unless you have a 24 hour vehicle, think twice whether you want to stay here. It's literally in the middle of nowhere and walking down the road may not be advisable after sundown. We heard neelgai alarm calls in the night. Obviously there was a leopard lurking somewhere.
The property's location is definitely very good and befitting a jungle lodge. It has a fantastic open terrace with distant views of the plains on the first floor. But the stair case can be a pain for senior citizens. We got a room on the top floor because that's the best. But it also means back breaking up and down travel all the time. Waiters tend to avoid attending to your calls very promptly.
Food wasn't anything great to write home about. Basic. Buffet. But adequate. The bar isn't always well stocked.
Geysers in the bathroom were a little iffy. The room was pretty large with a huge bed.

Room Tip: Go for the top floor room if you are physically in good shape. They have small private balconies overlooking the forest behind.

This is a heritage property of RTDC which was once used to be a hunting lodge for the kings of Jaipur.
It has the best location of all the properties in Ranthambore and the only property which is inside the forest area. All other priperties are along the main road only.
The narrow road which leads to the hotel is very scenic and one can see almost all animals on the way to hotel. We saw deers, neelgai, a variety of birds on the way to hotel only.
This property is situated on a small hilltop so one can have a clear view if the forest reserve around. There are instances when people have seen leopard and tiger around the premises only but one has to be enough lucky for this.
The plan booked has all meals in it and the food was really good. They have everything for all age groups to cater to. Guests can also order diet as per requirement to the manager qnd they will be happy to help.
For people looking for high end luxury and amenities this is not the place for them. It is simple, clean, comfortable hotel with not many frills. What it has is awesome location and breathtaking 360 dgree views of the nature around.
Rooms are big and very well ventilated.

Overall a great rustic property in the lap of nature. Definitely worth a visit again.

Room tip - Go for rooms on the top floor, they have superb views and open area to sit out.

Visited this place recently.. it was a different experience then other hotels.. seems like we were in castle surrounding by real jungle where you easily see deers and other animals. View from this place was amazing specially when its raining. Rooms were modernized well but still it's a castle so no elevators!!
Service was superb. Specially Mr. Raspal Singh?? (Hope it's correct) guy who take care of restaurant is vary genuine, polite and gives us warmth service.
Hope to visit this place soon..

Don't stay here if you want all the mod-cons. This is a place to visit for its fabulous location in the forest, away from normal Ranthambhore resort life.

It isn't very luxurious, being a government-run property, but when you drive in, you can see sambhar, nilgai and chital all around. Tigers have been known to frequent the locality as well.

Situated on a hill, it has a great view of the surrounding forest, especially from the terrace.

The food is fine, though not in the class of the more expensive and luxurious private resorts.

There are no lifts, so if you choose a third floor room, you will have to walk ip. Remember that if you are old or have bad knees.

I give it three stars because that is the class of this hotel. It is five stars as far as location and proximity to wildlife - the reason that brought me to Ranthambhore - is concerned.

It is reasonably priced as well. I would stay here again.

The location of this RTDC Lodge is outstanding. You drive through forest for about 1.5 kms before you drive up a hillock on which Jhoomar Baori is located. All around you is forest teeming with widlife. The Nature sounds around you take you to a different world.
The Lodge is well-maintained with very good service from all the members of the Staff. This was a hunting lodge, very old, which has been modified and converted into a heritage lodge. Each room on the first two floors are different in shape & size, but adequately furnished, with AC & Heating.
The best are the 3rd Floor rooms, which have been constructed later, hence more planned and with outstanding views of the forest & hills around.
Their food was homely and wholesome.
The terrace on the 2nd floor is a wonderful sit-out to enjoy the early mornings and evenings.
I shall definitely go back to this beautiful hotel!

Room Tip: 3rd floor rooms are the best
