Best location to stay with good value for money in terms of stay, Stayed for a night on 14th Aug 2018 with mother in room # 106. Well maintained, good staff all around. The food options is very good with a good mix of local & basic non local cuisine.
While we visited, the only challenge was the rains, which unfortunately prevented us from boating, the hotel is very close to the boat landing. The rains played spoilsport to it, but we were safe. Did notice the housekeeping staff working all around to keep the hotel clean amidst so much rains, & also keep the guests safe & comfortable.
Looking forward to planning another visit, while considering the weather at the place.

What a place and what a hotel. The hotel is situated in just middle of the tiger reserve. The rooms are excellent and very well maintained. The food in the restaurant was excellent specially the buffet dinner and break fast. The surrounding ambiance of the hotel was thrilling and superbly enjoyable. the hotel staffs are very well behaved and helpful. Overall a great experience and want to come again.

Aranya Nivas is one of the few options in Thekkady if you want to experience the 'Stay in the wild' within the Periyar

Forest Reserve. The fact that this one is quite a old resort had me a bit worried. But all my apprehensions were laid to

rest once I stepped into the resort. The entire makeup of the place is that of a wild jungle lodge with a perfect

blend of modern amenities. The room was clean and the bathroom was renovated. The staff was quite friendly and helpful.

The restaurant has a limited menu and food is a bit expensive. However, it is quite understandable considering the very

limited options within the forest reserve. An added bonus is the availability of the tickets for the Boat ride at the

front desk, which saves the trouble of standing in long queues at the ticket counter. The resort also has a pool and a

recreation room if you get free time. But I strongly recommend a nice long walk inside the reserve which is a rare

opportunity.

Overall, a very well maintained resort just a stone's throw away from the Periyar Boating Point!!
