Right in the heart of old Cochin...walk out the front door and you have the Chinese nets and fish stalls. Yet inside this old colonial house are fantastic, historic rooms, air con and mod cons, but individually decorated and with great art and furniture. A unique boutique hotel. Downstairs is a fab restaurant, gardens, and pool, all right in the heart of the old town. The hotel is small'ish but really delivers. One of the best hotels I have stayed in anywhere, and certainly in India. Great service and staff.

We have just returned to the UK after our second stay at "Old Harbour" and our previous impressions of the hotel were more than confirmed. We stayed for 5 nights and this really is a home-from-home. The hotel has a relaxed, very friendly atmosphere but imposes the highest standards for all of it's services. The staff are all proactive and provide a service which would be appreciated in a 5 star establishment. Thanks and congratulations are in order to Jude and Vineeta who are always to be found in the reception area. The restaurant provides the best food in Fort Kochi - we have tried nearly all of the up-market restaurants in the area - and offers a good range of the best of Indian wines. "Old Harbour" is ideally situated for exploring Fort Kochi and it is a real gem, providing a peaceful haven in the centre of the old town. It offers a charming garden and attractive pool. Outdoor evening dining is a delight with the hotel providing local India musicians.
Needless to stay, we will be back!

Room Tip: All rooms are very acceptable

Someone from another hotel we stayed in booked this for us and what a great surprise. We got the suite at the front on the pool side, huge room with great sunroom overlooking the park, good for watching the goings on below! Food quite western but good quality and value. Nice pool, lovely sitting under the giant mango tree.

Our party of 9 booked and paid our deposit 6 months in advance and paid up, with rooms confirmed 6 weeks before travel. 10 days before we set off for Kerala, my agent informed me that the hotel could only give us 3 of the requested 5 rooms, as they had other people coming. We could have our money back, but seeing as the rest of our holiday was all planned and paid for, this was of no help whatsoever. My agent said they were of no help & that it wasn't the first time they've done this. 3 of us were put up in a neighbouring hotel (no comparison at all), with no compensation. We got to eat in the resort (excellent food) and could admire our companions' rooms and the beautiful pool that was there but this didn't make us feel any better. No apology, no money back..........just as well the rest of Kerala made up for it.

We beleive it is important to hear both sides of the story and therefore we write our response. Yes, their travel agent made a booking for 5 rooms but did not pay up on the stipulated time which was two months prior to arrival and therefore the booking was cancelled. A week after the travel agent paid up and we reinstated the booking, however only three rooms were available at this stage and all concerned were informed of this development , we made every effort to re book them but there were no cancellations and therefore suggested the suite room at koder house as an alternative with a written assurance that room price would be refunded if they did not like it. We had also extended all facilities and services of Old Harbour hotel as well to these guests. Obviously, the reveiwer has not been informed about the above and for the record this travel agent has booked with us only in this instance and we are unable to comprehend how they claim that we have had over booking issues with them in the past. Im sure all will agree with us that the hotel communicates only with the travel agent as they were the ones who booked and should have been more transparent with their guests.

I cannot say enough to praise this really nice hotel. We stayed for 2 nights in December and had a beautiful big room with a little courtyard facing the pool and the garden to the back of the hotel. The breakfast is served in a pleasant dining room. We attended the Yoga classes on the rooftop in the morning. Jude, the manager, could not be more helpful when we decided to stay longer than booked. Although the hotel was booked out he got us alternative accommodation nearby and organised a packed breakfast for us as we had an early flight the next morning. I will be recommending Old Harbour Hotel to any friends who are planning a holiday in Kerala. It is very reasonable for good quality accommodation and food and the staff are excellent, particularly Jude Vibin.

Room Tip: Rooms on ground level with little courtyard to the side,
