After a very enjoyable stay at this exquisite hotel we came back to Eighth Bastion where we stayed 18 days ( 16/12/2015 - 3/1/2016). This charming mansion is strategically located at Fort Cochin within walking distance to the beach and key attractions. From the moment we arrived we experienced the gracious hospitality of manager Johny Peter and his friendly and efficient staff. We stayed at Room 303 which is very large and delightful, clean and quiet with a large king bed, airconditioning, fan, safe, perfect wifi, hairdryer, minibar,tea/coffee facilities and a large balcony with sea view. The interior decor of the hotel has a Dutch colonial touch with authentic historical maps and artwork which gives a romantic ambience. There is a small attractive pool and terrace.Breakfast was just perfect: a variety of juices, a nice fruit platter, dosas, pancakes, curd, eggs, bacon, sausages as well as special breads. The soft boiled eggs were served in a classy way to perfection. We experienced all the mocktails and many dishes of the lunch/dinner menu. For mocktails we specially advise : Peach saturn and Bahamas. Our favored dishes were : stuffed calamari, lobster and fish, seafood with noodles and chingri marcher ( tiger prawns).
Congratulations and a big thank you to manager Johny Peter and his staff for an unforgettable stay. A special mention is made to Sibi and Benjamin of the reception and to Manoj of the restaurant for leading his young team to excellence.

We highly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: For a couple Room 303 is the best : large a a very nice sea view

This small property is well located in a back street of Fort Cochin, within walking distance of the Chinese fishing nets.

Eight Bastion is a very nicely decorated boutique hotel with greatly helpful staff.

Food is brilliant and promptly served.

The only downside is that prices are European, not Indian... Just as all nice properties in Fort Cochin.

We stayed as part of a tour package. This hotel is a new addition to CGH group.
Pro's - the chef and the kitchen produced some very good dishes and were very flexible to ensure that the meals achieved expectations. The 'Mocktails' were excellent!
-the staff were all friendly and did all they could to make our stay pleasant.
Con's - the room was basic and view was just a wall and bins. You would not want to sit with a drink on the balcony!
- the shower/bath water was only lukewarm.
- the room was basic but comfortable and clean.
- no alcohol licence but an application has been submitted.
But overall, not too bad.

cannot comment on price because was part of a package
if it is normally priced its a winner

A lovely boutique hotel with a luxury feel.Great location for exploring Cochin which is a lovely place to walk around. Enticing shops, interesting architecture and the opportunity to spot dolphins from the seashore! Interesting cemetery just around the corner which was unfortunately locked so couldn't go in. Amazing bathroom! Great choice at breakfast. Only downside was no alcohol licence when we visited.
