I love sea food and when my friend suggested the Village I was apprehensive – a seafood eating place without a waterfront? But when my friend says it’s a place that was worth a visit, I agreed.
And no regrets! From the moment you enter you feel like you are entering a real seafront shack – a good one at that. The clientele was local as well as some from other part of the country. The décor is very fisherman village like. I suggest my friend, who is a developer as well as having interests in this establishment, to look at venue, say in Florida (Jensen Beach or Hutchinson Island). It would be a good competition for the ‘entrenched’ enterprises there!
The fish was fresh! The masala – spice mixtures to enhance taste of food it is applied to – was not one mix for all fried fish! The herbs and spices were also fresh as were the accompanying veggies! The only set back, if you may call it so, was masala coating was bit over-bearing. I scrapped out the excess masala and enjoyed the fish – Pompfrets, Mackerels, Kanne (a.k.a. Lady Fish), Crabs to name a few of the fish we enjoyed.
The spirit menu was quite exhaustive. I had my favourite Indian drink – Khody’s Hercules XXX Rum!
When in Mangaluru, and you are fish lover or even would like to try, go to the Village!
