“A gem of a find in Goa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 February 2012

I travel often to India on business and had an opportunity to spend an additional week on my own. I've heard of Goa and wanted to visit. I found this hotel after downloading the 'Lonely Planet' Guide to Goa. Making arrangements online was easy. I selected one of the suites off the main entrance (I think it was the bougainvilla room, and have included photographs). The room was comfortable and large, and had a small outside sitting area. The staff are pleasant. My best surprise was the food. The Marbella serves three meals a day (you have to inform them if you want lunch or dinner). Breakfast was usually a large papaya and plenty of coffee. I had the opportunity to eat dinner a few nights and found the cuisine tasty and plentiful. Usually two - four menu items are offered. I recommend the Marbella and will definitely stay there next visit to Goa.

Marbella Guesthouse was my introduction to Goa and l was delighted to see this beautiful Goan mansion live up to its expectations.
On arrival l was warmly greeted by the very friendly staff, and my backpack carried upstairs to the garden room.
My lovely room was very spacious and clean, and also had a balcony view overlooking a lush green garden.
With abundant birdlife and their friendly dogs, it was truly a relaxing, comfortable and peaceful environment to be a part of.
The food was wonderful, all being made from fresh ingredients, and kitchen staff have been welltrained to meet all requirements.
While feasting on one of their many delicious lndian dishes, l had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, who was very dedicated in providing a high level of ongoing customer service to her guests.
Also having their own beauty therapist to pamper to your needs was another highlight of this excellent B&B.
l had a very enjoyable week's stay at Marbella, and would highly recommend.
In fact l cant wait for my next trip to lndia to return to Marbella, a true paradise in colourful Goa!
Thank you Marbella for a very memorable and luxurious visit. A real treat!

We stayed for 10 days in a beautiful and intimate hotel with a very friendly and always helpful staff and an excellent kitchen where your stomach feels completely safe with anything you eat (which is sometimes not the case when you eat somewhere else). Cleaning and service was excellent and the joyful atmosphere of everyone working there heartwarming. Several other guests were visitors who returned here regularly if not annually. All rooms (we happened to see many of them) look great, each in their own way, and are furnished with good taste. Even though there is a crowded tourist area nearby, quiet beaches can be reached easily by taxi or scooter and the hotel itself is an island of peace & quietness, and the terrace in the beautiful and well taken care of garden makes it very tempting to stay in the entire day if you wish so. Absolutely very advisable.

Room Tip: The Penthouse Suite is the best but the Rajasthani Suite has a wonderful large size bath.

Stayed at Marbella Guest House for 3 nights in their Bougain villa and Garden room. The guest house is a very beautifully restored mansion with its interior design done with utmost attention to details. It shows in the overall character and charisma that this place portrays.

Location couldn't have been better - tucked away in a silent lane, where the only thing after this guest house is a hilly forest like area which I think leads to Taj Aguada at other side.It is also very close(a km or so) to the lovely main candolim market area which is lined with scores of nice restaurants and other shops where you can spend a good evening.Candolim has a nice relaxed yet lively vibe to it, compared to the chaotic and messy Calangute.

The people of Marbella were very friendly and genuine.Everyone made our stay very comfortable. Once I managed to lose the key of their Activa in the night, but they helped me out nicely even late in the night , esp Raymond who was on leave the next day but still came all the way from him home in Morjim to find a key maker on a Sunday and get a duplicate key done.Sorry Raymond, I hope you are not mad at me :)

Food we did not eat much in Marbella as we were always out roaming on our Activas and would eat at the many restaurants in the Candolim market area.

All in all a lovely experience in Marbella, and we would recommend it to everyone.

Cheers!

Room Tip: The Garden room on first floor is really good

Goa may be over-run by budget travellers and ugly concrete developments. But arrive at this Portuguese styled mansion and you are transported back to an era long gone. Surrounded by lush greenery, all you can hear is the chirping of birds. The staff is friendly, service good and the rooms are beautifully individual. The central courtyard has some amazing vegetation. Go for the penthouse suite if you are in Goa to simply indulge yourself and laze around. We opted for the Bougainvillea rooms as we thought we won't be spending too much time indoors. They are great value and have a shared balcony with Bougainvilleas all around. The two resident dogs - Ruby and Ruben - will be your guide if you feel like walking upto the Fort Aguada which is a short 15-20 minutes from the Guesthouse.

Room Tip: The Mughal Suite may have less privacy as it adjoins the entrance lobby, kitchen and the shared cour...
