We stayed for 10 days in a beautiful and intimate hotel with a very friendly and always helpful staff and an excellent kitchen where your stomach feels completely safe with anything you eat (which is sometimes not the case when you eat somewhere else). Cleaning and service was excellent and the joyful atmosphere of everyone working there heartwarming. Several other guests were visitors who returned here regularly if not annually. All rooms (we happened to see many of them) look great, each in their own way, and are furnished with good taste. Even though there is a crowded tourist area nearby, quiet beaches can be reached easily by taxi or scooter and the hotel itself is an island of peace & quietness, and the terrace in the beautiful and well taken care of garden makes it very tempting to stay in the entire day if you wish so. Absolutely very advisable.

Room Tip: The Penthouse Suite is the best but the Rajasthani Suite has a wonderful large size bath.

Stayed at Marbella Guest House for 3 nights in their Bougain villa and Garden room. The guest house is a very beautifully restored mansion with its interior design done with utmost attention to details. It shows in the overall character and charisma that this place portrays.

Location couldn't have been better - tucked away in a silent lane, where the only thing after this guest house is a hilly forest like area which I think leads to Taj Aguada at other side.It is also very close(a km or so) to the lovely main candolim market area which is lined with scores of nice restaurants and other shops where you can spend a good evening.Candolim has a nice relaxed yet lively vibe to it, compared to the chaotic and messy Calangute.

The people of Marbella were very friendly and genuine.Everyone made our stay very comfortable. Once I managed to lose the key of their Activa in the night, but they helped me out nicely even late in the night , esp Raymond who was on leave the next day but still came all the way from him home in Morjim to find a key maker on a Sunday and get a duplicate key done.Sorry Raymond, I hope you are not mad at me :)

Food we did not eat much in Marbella as we were always out roaming on our Activas and would eat at the many restaurants in the Candolim market area.

All in all a lovely experience in Marbella, and we would recommend it to everyone.

Cheers!

Room Tip: The Garden room on first floor is really good

Goa may be over-run by budget travellers and ugly concrete developments. But arrive at this Portuguese styled mansion and you are transported back to an era long gone. Surrounded by lush greenery, all you can hear is the chirping of birds. The staff is friendly, service good and the rooms are beautifully individual. The central courtyard has some amazing vegetation. Go for the penthouse suite if you are in Goa to simply indulge yourself and laze around. We opted for the Bougainvillea rooms as we thought we won't be spending too much time indoors. They are great value and have a shared balcony with Bougainvilleas all around. The two resident dogs - Ruby and Ruben - will be your guide if you feel like walking upto the Fort Aguada which is a short 15-20 minutes from the Guesthouse.

Room Tip: The Mughal Suite may have less privacy as it adjoins the entrance lobby, kitchen and the shared cour...

We only stayed in Candolim for a few nights on our way between other places and weren't particularly impressed with either the beach or town. Its very busy, the traffic is non-stop and it's package holiday hell. However, we absolutely loved the Marbella - an oasis away from the storm. The building itself was beautiful, the room we stayed in (the Garden room) was gorgeous, with some lovely thoughtful touches, the food was great (although as mentioned by others, we would have preferred an all-inclusive breakfast price as 15 rupees or whatever for butter just seems churlish, but its a small matter), the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and it was very peaceful, but not too remote, location. There is also a treatment room and I spent a long morning, and not very much money, being incredibly well pampered. The only improvement I could suggest would be a pool, although if the beach were nicer this probably wouldn't be an issue. I would defintely return (if I ever had the misfortune to pass through Candolim again).

Room Tip: I probably wouldn't want to stay in one of the ground-floor rooms as you may get noise from the...

LOCATION: Marbella Guest House is located less than a kilometer from Sinquerim beach. Its a stone throws away from Candolim as well, so gets full marks on the location front

AMBIANCE: Beautifully constructed, lush greenery surrounds the whole house. The place is spotless clean, peaceful and has a unique vibe to it that is difficult to explain. Great taste in interiors.....and the knick knacks that fill the house make it very welcoming.

Service: Excellent staff, very courteous and very accommodating. All meals were excellently prepared. The Manager at the MGH set us up with an excellent cabbie for all our excursions..... thanks Julius!... for Krishna as well as the Activa!

Rooms: 6 rooms in total, from the cozy bougainvillea rooms to the huge penthouse suite on the 1st floor. We stayed one night in a bougainvillea and another in the Rajasthani suite. Fantastic rooms, tastefully decorated, very very neat and tidy. Loved the fact that no two rooms are alike....gives the place great personality.

Wrapping up: MGH turned out to be what Tripadvisor already states - its one of the best places to stay at when one goes to Goa....though i would like to point out that the place is more suited for families and couples rather than group of friends who've gone to Goa for a wild weekend.
