“Loved it”

We stayed there for six nights. The first five nights we stayed in two adjoining bamboo cottages (128, 129) and the last night we stayed in two Nicobari Cottages (126, 127). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view from the rooms is breattaking. Though Nicobari cottages in this resort are more popular but I would prefer the Bamboo cottages (128, 129). From these Bamboo cottages you can see Bay of Bengal right from your bed.
The restaurant of this hotel serves good food. However, as we stayed for many nights we quickly figured out that they serve more or less the same food every day. Also the food is often little too spicy.
The rooms, particularly the bathrooms of both the room types we stayed in need maintenance, however, the reception responded to all our needs, in this regard, very promptly.
You must think twice before opting for this hotel (particularly the sea facing cottages) if you or anyone in your group has difficulty climbing stairs.
In summary, I would go there again. The service, contrary to some of the reviews here, is not at all bad.

We had been to Andaman for our honeymoon and had chosen Megapode Nest to stay at Port Blair for 5 nights. We had read the reviews of the place and we had good expectations from the place and we were proven to be right. The place is simply awesome. We had booked the Nicobari cottage and it was just superb. The view from the room was fascinating and the seclusion and privacy is unmatched. The room and the washrooms were well maintained and every details had been looked into. They even provided with a few candles and matchsticks in case of a power failure or in case u just want a candle lit dinner in the room. The bathroom was large and had a bathtub in this category of rooms. The service of the staff is good and fast. The food was good in the restaurant and the spread of the buffet was also great. They also arrange for all your travel related requirements and provide you with best advice that saves you a lot of money.

Room Tip: Go for bamboo cottage or Nicobari cottages

We were on our honeymoon and we booked Bamboo cottage for our stay. We stayed in 2 bamboo cottages (3 nights before Havelock trip and 1 after Havelock) during our stay. Our Room no was 133. Room is either newly builds or just renovated. Sea view was ok as compare to other bamboo cottage but still open sea from your balcony made you feel fresh. Latter we shifted to Room no 128 for 1 night. That Room was also good. There is garden infant of Room 133/134. 32 inches LCD and large room made us more comfortable.
Hotel is on hilltop so every time you have to clime few steps for restaurant. Not an issue for young and fit people but may be difficult for old age people.

About Food: we took 3 buffet dinners in Bay view restaurant (Megapode Nest’s restaurant). On 1st day we liked the food but other meal was ok ok. Breakfast was really good and they change the menu on every day (corn flex, juice, bread butter etc. servers daily).

About staff: Staff is really polite and helpful. Every morning and evening we were asking new towel and they provide us with smile. First time staff was ready to take a tip for bags handling. Room service was wonderful, bit slowly but that was fine for us.
Ask for Bamboo cottage 133/134 as away from other cottages (more privacy) and newly renovated.

I will prefer this hotel to stay in future

Room Tip: now entrance and reception is under construction. The day we left that time they reception was shift...

Stayed here on the almost mandatory stop over between Port Blair airport and Neil Island (ferry tickets take a while to sort out.)

The hotel itself was average, we stayed in one of the 'nicer' Nicobarian huts with a sea view. The room itself was very nice - large with all the modern amenities such as air conditioning, bathroom, fridge and TV. The view was really lovely but the road was slightly noisy. The beds were the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on due to the hard and lumpy mattress and scratchy sheets and rugs. There was tepid running water which was a welcome luxury after Neil Island (hot water not required as it's so hot.) However, at 3,995 Rupees it was overpriced for what it was.

Worst thing about the hotel were the reception staff. This isn't normally an area which bothers me but really did here. A couple of examples:
1. We were told very bluntly and abruptly we needed to provide a photocopy of our passports and visas when we checked in - despite calling up the previous day and not being told this. Instead of arranging this for us we were told we must travel back into Port Blair and do this (about 15 mins in a tuk tuk.) We were 'allowed' a quick shower first but were reminded of our responsibility to get this task done 3 or 4 times before we'd even left to do it.

2. We arranged a car to take us to the airport. We were told we were being silly by trying to book the overpriced (compared to a local taxi) car early and without consultation the time for the car was moved. It was then late and we were told we were worrying unnecessarily. When it finally arrived we got through check-in asap but still nearly missed the plane! Very frustrating experience.

We decided to stay in standard rooms. Barring one or two, most of the rooms are spacious and having natural light. I will definitely say that they are quite comfortable and for the tariff we paid, they are absolutely okay.
Hotel location is excellent and view of the sea from the Hotel is fantastic.
Food in the restaurant was very good and staff courteous.
Only thing which needs to be replaced are room air conditioners. They should be replaced in a phased manner, and they must provide water kettle in the rooms.
It is quite satisfying to spend four nights in this Hotel.

Room Tip: Room No.118 is recently renovated and it is better than any deluxe room in a standard hotel. One wil...
