(Actual trip was jan 2010 just getting around to writing this) We rented a private house that allowed us privelidges at Wananavu. We would go there throughout the day to have their wonderful meals and cocktails. Whenever we would enter they would great us by our names and treat us so well. We took advantage of their daily activites including snorkeling, fishing, and sight seeing. This was the best snorkeling experience of my entire life and totally out did hawaii and the caribbean. Coral was beautiful and blue starfish abound. However the best experience was deep-sea fishing. No one else signed up so we had a private trip for the entire morning with lunch included for about $90 US! We caught tuna, mackarel, and barracuda! Because we had a private house they offered for us to take the fish back, but we said we wouldn't know what to do with it. Instead we asked them to cook some of the tuna for us and said the staff could have the rest. Our tuna meals were amazing (grilled on salad and then sandwiches). To our surprise the staff all came up to thank us for letting them have the fish. Toward the end of the trip a tropical storm moved in flooding the house we rented. Wananavu was gracious enough to take us in for our last night. Our bure was very nice. We often remember the kindness and wonderful service we encountered and compare many of our trips to this one. Few compare....

A fantastic deal came up on a "deal" website for the beautiful Wananavu. After a very brief hesitation my husband and I both put in our leave applications and visited Wananavu for the third time in early January using the voucher. It was with a little trepidation as we wondered whether there was something wrong with the resort since we last visited and whether we would still have the same experience.

Within minutes of arriving and receiving the first hug from a staff member who remembered us from our last visit I knew nothing was going to be different! The little extra perks from the voucher were a bonus. Between the two of us I think that this time we tried nearly all the spa menu as this was going to be our only holiday for the year and the girls are lovely and prices are reasonable.

The husband went diving as often as he could. High praise for the new dive outfit - much improved over previous visits....

We upgraded to the honeymoon bure for our last couple of nights as we had done previously. It is just such a nice way to end a fantastic stay. Staff truly embody the friendliness we all read about in Fiji and it is no wonder that most comments on this page are positive.

Where to start ?. The trip to the resort was very enjoyable ( yes it takes a bit over 2 hours ) but it is part of the adventure. Our driver too the resort ( the famous Sai ) was great and was happy to do a quick stop at the supermarket ( Fiji style ) at Tavua. He also was more than happy to point out things of interest along the way. He really is an asset to the Resort. The return driver left alot to be desired. We stayed 9 nights and from the moment we arrived to when we left it was our best stay in Fiji ever. The views are spectacular the staff very friendly. Vulo, Tina, Eta, Nate, Sami, and Taniela in the restaurant/bar were fantastic and remember everybody's names. Cold water costantly topped up and cold towls offered if needed ( very warm and humid in march ). Meals were very well done although more choice's of an evening would have been nice. The Lovo night was great and liked the Mongolian night was good also. Both night's had plenty of well cooked food and plenty of choice. Despite what someone else has said i thought it was fair value as you are getting great service with it. The resort is very well kept and you can snorkel straight of the beach although off the marina wall ( about 20 ft out ) is a great spot , mask and fins are free. Grab a kayak and take a paddle to another island as we did 3 times , it is hard paddling if windy but we went to the island straight off the beach on a carm day ( bloody long paddle ) . Dive shop which unfortuanetly a recent foot injury stoped me , but next time for sure. Now for a great trip and only $30 fj take a snorkeling boat trip. Our guide/driver Ravi was fantastic and took us out to the island where we snorked a fair way out on a reef ( we gave poor Ravi a scare as he was worried we where swimmingback to Oz ) but i must say he was just looking out for us which is great to see. Another treat was Ravi breaking open coconuts for us and also little peanut like nuts for a feast on the beach. He also droped us in the water on a nice reef from the boat then picked us up floating further on. The resort was very quiet and there where only a few well behaved children which the fijian staff are great to see dotting on them. To Rachel and Ben you have a really special resort and your staff are fantastic. Well done. We will be back for sure.

Room Tip: Any bures would be fine although closer to the beach would be better

The road is a little bumpy but there is work starting on resealing on many stretches between here & Nadi. But you're right, it is a fantastic journey a gives a real glimpse into the real Fiji, warts and all! We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Just came back from a 2 night stay. Beautiful location!! Awe inspiring views great service. My only complaint was getting stung on the opening night and being charged 30aud for the mongolian buffet...essentially a plate of noodles..very exy and no other options. Apart from that amazing stay and will def return when r and r is needed!!

Many thanks for your feedback and we very much appreciate your kind words on the amazing views and service at the resort.
I am sorry you felt 'stung' by the AUD$30 for the Mongolian Buffet. The Mongolian is offered occasionally as an alternative and is probably better suited to those staying 5 nights or more. Soup & salads are offered as entrees and the mains consist of fish, chicken, lamb, pork etc cooked to your liking with a variety of vegetables and sauces and then combined with a choice of rice or noodles. You can revisit as many times as you like and of course there is a choice of desserts to follow.
Many of our guests like to enjoy a leisurely evening's eating on the Sunset Deck with the Band Boys. If one is looking for a quick bite, this may well be unsuited.
We will definitely review our pricing on this and try to ensure we can offer an alternative - perhaps just one dish from the buffet?
We look forward to welcoming you back to Wananavu and would like to offer you a complimentary upgrade on your next visit.
Again, thank you for your time in passing on your comments.
