We stayed at the Mexicana as a 2nd visit to Sharm. The hotel has very friendly staff, average but very clean rooms. We were welcomed with towels wrapped as swans and petals on the bed - a nice touch. The breakfasts had a good selection including the all important egg chef!
The hotel is located approx 300m from the beach on the stunning Red Sea where it is amazing to go snorkelling, you will require beach shoes as the entry to the beach, reef is very course. The local market town of El Maketo is about 600m walk which we done at night as the temperatures dropped. The jewellery shops are 100% genuine as I had gold items checked in the uk and spoke to people who kept revisiting.
Naam bay is a 20 minute cab drive away with some fantastic Resteraunts especially Chinese! If the old town is visited don't go for a camel ride as some of the locals can be aggressive towards gaining money out of you!
All in all we had a great time.More
