Stayed in the sierra hotel in February , very good location for soho square , very clean and friendly hotel ,rooms were of a good size and bed very comfortable and big.
Main swimming pool and surrounding gardens were very nice and pool bar area was good.
Had complementary 15 min massage at the spa plus you could drink free at the the queen vic pub in soho square which was a bonus as to the food in hotel it was ok they had a theme for every night but tasted all the same .
But overall it was very good value for money

It took me 2½ weeks, dawn to dusk, on my laptop to then find the perfect holiday with the help of “TripAdvisor” and it's customer reviews. I suddenly discovered the Sierra Resort, sister of the Savoy on White Knight Beach in the Sharks Bay area. Stayed 26Jan-23Feb.
I found it on a Sunday, booked it on the Monday and arrived on the Thursday!
We stayed for four weeks, and it was wonderful, the best All Inclusive holiday we have ever had.
With the use of the facilities and private beach at the Savoy Resort that has several restaurants and bars; Soho Square with shops, numerous restaurants (including Chinese, Indian, Thai, Lebanese), and bars with discounts or included under your All Inclusive, the Queen Vic pub, all just 5 minutes walk away from the Sierra. The Sierra has six pools, one indoor spa pool, four heated in winter.
I emailed the hotel manager before leaving the UK asking for a quiet room with balcony on the second floor (all the accommodation blocks are two storey high with balcony/terrace and very attractively laid out, with flowers, shrubs, trees everywhere). The first room they showed us was in the shade and so they kindly showed us another room with a sunny balcony overlooking sunset pool (not the main pool), which was absolutely perfect (room 3519). Good choice of TV channels, very comfortable bed, and large shower area. Always talk to the Reception Desk if there are any problems, they'll do their very best.
In the main restaurant there's a circular open kitchen and you can watch the chefs preparing food, cooking pasta and omelette dishes to order. Every night there's a different food theme: Italian, 2xInternational, English, Russian, Asian, BBQ. We had no problems with the food at all, every night it was very good with a nice glass of Rosé. Always a good choice of main meals, desserts, salad, bread, drinks. But looking at some reviews you can't please everyone!!
A “TripAdvisor” useful comment (if you have a sensitive stomach) was to have yoghurt with honey every morning with cereal, it may help prevent stomach upsets and regular use of antiseptic hand lotion is a good idea,
The staff are so so friendly they can't do enough for you, we made some great friends and we didn't tip them until the last day!
On Valentine's day the restaurant was decorated with hearts and “Happy Valentine's Day” banners, and every lady was given a red rose. We also had a lovely pink heart shaped sponge cake sent to our room. On my husband's birthday when we came back to our room the cleaner had arranged a lovely towel decoration with rose petals on the bed, and room service sent a birthday cake.
The airport is adjacent to the Sierra but airport noise is not a problem for us Londoners, planes do not fly over the resort, and the noise is for just a few seconds a few times a day, unlike one a minute in London!! A four hours 30 minutes flight, an hour longer on the way back.
Shame about all the recent Egyptian troubles on the news recently but Cairo is a 7 hour drive from here so there really is no need to worry! The security on resort gates and along the main roads is very comforting if there was any trouble. Egypt has just had it's coldest winter on record, but this was fine for us and it did certainly improve.
We took the submarine trip on the Red Sea and took some decent photos of fish and back in time for lunch. We were given the opportunity to look around the Savoy's top villa called Cleopatra which is a four bedroom villa, beautifully decorated olde Egyptian style with its own pool, and costs over £1000 a night!! The Sierra have a daily news-sheet of about 5-6 pages containing all the UK headline news stories, that was very useful. Free vouchers for use in a variety of ways especially in the Spa. A free gym and a chip and putt golfing area.
Can't praise the staff enough we had such a great time with them and they looked after us so so well, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone who wants rest and relaxation or full on with diving experiences, entertainment in the hotel every night or entertainment in Soho Square every night, if you want it,and all the different shops and restaurants too.Excellent value for money.
An Egyptian “Thank you” = “Shukran” to:
Front Desk Manager: Malak
Reception Desk: Elia, Islam
Main Restaurant waiters: Abdullah, Hany, Ayman
Main Restaurant chefs: Ayman, Mohammed
Savoy Mini bus driver: Magdi Guitarist: Heny
Sunset pool waiter: Elia Sunset pool lifeguard: Elsaid
Cleaning Supervisor: Medhat Guest Relations: Anna, Tania
and a HUGE Shukran especially to Rania in the restaurant and our room cleaner Fouad.
Thank you Sierra for making our four week stay exceptional and perfect in every way, we thoroughly enjoyed it, and hope to return very soon. Roberta & John McDonald, London

When we arrived we were greeted wonderfully. Staff very helpful and welcoming. We were given a voucher booklet for the different activities we were allowed to use free of charge which was great. Make sure you book the massage early as they only have slots from 10-12 (am) for the vouchers and we were not aware when tried booking towards the end of the week.

The food was O.K in the only restaurant they have on the Sierra hotel site. I did think the 7 other outlets in the Akuna Matata might have been better but they remided me more of the food hall in Lakeside. It wasnt a sit down meal, more a look at the board, give your order to the waiter and then sit down and wait for either pizza, chicken and chips, noodles, Turkish/Egyptian bread/pizza type food and a not so appetising spanish tapas counter but I think I must have a high expectation of standards of food as most people havent complained on here and I did not see anyone complain at the resort. There were alot of choices of food per night at the main restaurant i.e chicken chasseure type dish, deep fried fish piece, beef in gravy with either rice, potatoes of some form or a different style rice. But the quality for me wasnt very good. The desserts, just stick to the main one! That is the best. We tried the different one they put out each night but every time we reverted back the same one they had there.

My best highlight of food was the chef in the morning that cooked the omellettes! Loved those! Sorry, I have forgotten his name but he made the nicest breakfast for me. Remember Egypt is a Muslim country so bacon and sausage are only available in 'beef' form.... which I didnt think about before I went. Aslong as you like eggs, your breakfast will be nice.

Everyone at the hotel made you feel welcome and were very helpful. Try see Luca for the trips. We had a great time in Cairo, even after the news on UK television. Aslong as you have your tour guide with you, it wasnt too bad with people hassling you etc.

All in all a good time. A special thank to the Spa team who were alos very helpful. This was a lovely place to spend late afternoons when the sun had gone in during winter months in Egypt... I personally would go to the Savoy for the next trip (only for the food though!) The room were beautiful and the cleaners expectionally wonderful.

Room Tip: 2426 (Garden View) very close to the Spa.

Dear Guests,

Thank you for posting your valuable review. We are always keen to hear the guests’ feedback in order to improve our services, your feedback is very much appreciated.

Concerning the free massage, upon the arrival, premium vouchers and in welcome letters we inform the guests to make the Spa reservation in advance as each massage is 15 min and it take a while for all Sierra Guests. We are sorry if you found it kind of complicated, however, it is the hotel system (the same system in Savoy hotel).

We provide a free dinner at Akuna Matata which is including several cuisines like: Pizza, Chinese noodles, BBQ, local food, international and sea food. Furthermore Café Chino (Lebanese Restaurant) is also available complimentary of evening meal. We heard a lot of positive comments on both Restaurants. Akuna Matata and Café Chino are located at the Soho Square and we believe that there are not many hotels that provide the same offer when you may dine outside the hotel and it is included in your concept. Also we trust that this brings the variety to our guests. Should the guests were not satisfied even with this selection, we also can make special meals from the buffet items had the guests reported this to us whilst in house.
However, should you inform any manger in Akuna Matata, I’m sure who would be happy to fulfill your requests Anyway, the Soho Management appreciates your feedback

In regards to the comment about food, we would like to confirm that at the Sierra we serve a wide variety of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every day there is a selection of meat such as beef or veal, a chicken and fish/seafood. There is a selection of rice, potatoes and freshly cooked pasta as a side dish. In addition to this there is a wide selection of salads, bread and desserts. Each evening in the restaurant there is a different theme such as Oriental, English, Italian, international and a BBQ night. We try to cater for all food tastes and nationalities (British/Russian/Scandinavian/Dutch etc.).
We present many kind of desserts such as: cakes, pan cakes, creams, pastries and etc. Actually, it is the first negative comment regarding the desserts.

If you had informed somebody about your points then we could have taken action to make you feel more comfortable, however you did not report this to a member of our staff.

Once again thank you for sharing your comments about Sierra with us, you are welcome at the Sierra Resort Sharm at any time, when we hope we will be able to change your opinion about our hotel.

Best regards,

Sierra Management

We recently returned from Sierra, stayed there for one week: 2 adults and 3 children (3,8 & 10 y.o). The hotel is nice and clean, the service is very good, the food - well, could be better. We certainly were hungry with this "ultra all inclusive" - with limited food and drinks that we wanted to consume. For the first days, our children ate mostly rice (always available) and boiled/steamed chicken (available at dinner time from children's buffet) and cakes, which are great, but not a good substantial diet as far as we are concerned. Also burgers and chips from the pool bar - but, after a day or so, it gets too much of this. Later in a week we discovered a place called Akuna Matata, which is also Al, so went there for dinners instead of the main restaurant and that was a change! You have a choice of 7 kitchens! Much better!!! There is a live entertainment there too. So would recommend to head there straight from the beginning of you holiday (dinners only)!
Otherwise than food, the holiday was very good, the last day was a disappointment with the way the reception stuff treated us. As we arrived first thing in the morning on Tues., we expected to use the Al (all-inclusive) until our departure at 3pm next Monday, well, big mistake. The hotel charged us for 2 cups of tea and the 2 burgers we ate after noon and were very prompt to surround us and present their bill. They claimed that they were paid for 6 days only, our agent Fleetway charged us for 7 days. Not sure who's right, but such a mess and a shame about such ending to a relaxing holiday!
