“Stunning value for money”
Reviewed 13 February 2011

Stayed for 2 weeks all inclusive, good variety of cuisines to suit all palates. Try not to be influenced by the reviews that say they only cater for eastern europeans. The only obnoxious person we came across was english!!! Staff were amasingly helpfull without being overbearing .Crossing the road to the beach is not a problem. If you are elderly or infirm just hop on the free minibus. Lots of people did not rate the pyramid trip as they considered it to be long and tedious. I cannot validate these opinions as we stayed in the resort. The Marina is beautifully cosmopolitan and on a par with Puerto Banus. Egyptian cotton goods & leather are exceptionally good value. Do not forget to haggle.....it is traditional and good fun. Final overview of the hotel and area says that we would return without hesitation, but there are so many more places to visit. So glad we chose to visit this beautiful area

Well... what can i say..! My husband and i satyped at this hotel for our belated honeymoon in October. After reading the previous reviews i was very tempted to change our hotel before we went. I'm glad i didn't now!
After arriving at the hotel just before midnight (our flight was delayed by 4 hours from the UK), we were taken to our room and asked informed that we could get food from the restaurant. It was just sandwiches but enough to keep you going till morning. The room was immaculate but hot as it was 29 degrees outside. The aircon soon sorted it out though (it was slightly nosy so you could not sleep with it on). The bed was very comfy and spacious.
When eating breakfast the next day it was clear to see that the staff here never stop working. Cleaning, tending the gardens, serving at the bars etc.
Hanna our rep was amazing and filled us in on the local does and don'ts. We went on 3 trips. Luxor - this was fantastic but TOO hot (45 degrees) Bedoiun familys - only way to describe this... BREATH TAKING. The memories from that trip will be with me forever and finally we visited Mamaya Island - Paradise Island and it is exactly that!
The only thing i would say is that you have to remember that the standards here are far different from the UK. Our shower could not keep the temperature, hot one minute, freezing the next, but you just have to except it.
All though i was sick for a few days on our holiday, i put this down to the water that you can get throught the Coca Cola machine as there was definatly no question on cleanliness.
I will visit Hurghada again but once the city and resorts are fully built.

First impressions good .Cleaners working day and night so clean . But directly under flight path of incoming planes ! Pools dangerous ,very very slippery, one of our party fell and had to be carried on sun bed to doctor ! Pools become deep in certain areas but don't know until one of your children almost drown as taken unawares,no signage ! Watched as a huge man came off flume, hit his head ,knocking himself out ,everybody waited for him to surface ,towel man and others dived in to rescue him ,still unconscious. Lots of food but very eastern European, bbq liver !! Pizza at Aqua very good ,but pool at Gardens serves left overs from night before ie liver ! Animation team only interested if polish or Russian.Children's play area all made from metal so can't touch as too hot and very tried looking. No real entertainment, same disco, same songs, same order every night. Coffee bar ok. Felt like in Russia ,they and polish very rude, agree with other review ,and we are white . No big deal crossing road ,traffic slows as humps in road. Try snorkel boat trip ,well worth it . Felt isolated as long way in middle of building site . Taxis to get out and about , too far out to walk .Power-station right next to mothers room ! Not what we wanted . Glad to come home , Should not be in Tomson book ,as not for English.Felt like we were in prison. Best thing there was Hannah the rep , deserves a medal ,with everybody complaining. Think carefully before going ,its a lot of money to waste !!

On arrival at the hotel was very pleased with what we saw, there is a beautiful reception which has internet access, cash machine, and two bars. We were given key to our room which was a family room as i travelled with my partner and two children; there was some slight confusion as the porter could not find our room!! But when we eventually found it, we were pleasantly suprised. It was like an apartment; we had a large living room with tv and sofa bed, kitchen with fridge/freezer, main room with double bed, tv and large wardrobes and chest of drawers and the kids bedroom with two single beds and wardrobes and chest of drawers. All rooms had air conditioning which could be indiviually controlled. We did not have a balcony as advertised but corridors outside of rooms had terraces and sofas where you could sit. The hotel was very clean and at all times of day and night you could see staff cleaning and maintaining the gardens, which were also lovely.
There were three restaurants at the hotel; the main buffet restaurant was not really catered to English people, food was a bit hit and miss and while during our stay of 7 days we only ate dinner there once opting to go to the chinese and italian restaurants instead. However there was plenty of food to choose from and breakfasts were lovely. There were many pools to choose from in the hotel, which were all clean and well maintained. Be careful of the pool with the slides as I saw many people with injuries occured from the slides.
There were a couple of pool bars where you could get drinks and snacks from, pizza, chips etc.
Night time entertainment was sparse, there was a show that was performed every night and a "disco", which was pretty rubbish but once u have a bit of alcohol in you, u can have a giggle at the dj who also doubles as a singer!!
The staff at the hotel, were all helpful and polite and would remember your name and what drink you liked. We took a trip to hurghada town in a taxi, which was scary as the drivers seem to make up there own road rules!!! Once in town, be prepared to be approached by people trying to get u into their shops! It was all a lot of fun though and a great experience.
We also did the desert trip, which I didnt like was all a bit rushed and the night time show was rubbish.
All in all, I would say that I had a great time at Albatross Gardens and it was a lovely hotel. However my one big complaint is the Russians, Germans and Polish people that stayed in the hotel. Ninety percent of the people in the hotel were from these countries and eighty percent of them were extremely rude!! Me and my family are Black British and we might as well as been from the moon!! They would stare at us and then talk about you in their language like they had never seen a black person before!! Very ignorant!! In the beginning we just ignored but towards the end of the holiday became very annoying!! Didnt spoil our holiday, but it was a shame.

GREAT place overall, with great staff, and ALWAYS cleaning!
Not sure what some people are moaning about !! The food in the main restaurant is Euro-blend (they all stay there from Russia to England thro France, Germany, Poland you name it!) BUT and be aware, we agree with others on here the Chinese and Italian restaurants are RUBBISH, just eat in the main one (The Crocodile) or use next door (Aqua Blue). Note to the owner/manager, get a real buffet style Chinese restaurant or just shut that one and make the Viking bar bigger.
So rant over.
Pools where clean and cleaned all day, got a selection of at least SEVEN inc Aqua Blue (it a linked hotel that share almost everything) always found a sunbed, towels were clean and freely given out. Room was like a Premier Inn but with a Queen size bed and a balcony. It is very wheelchair/baby buggy friendly place with ramps everywhere.
Beach is a 10 min walk thro The Beach Hotel, yes you do have to cross the road but they have put in speed bumps to slow the traffic and most times a policeman is there watching ( and he has a gun to shoot offenders !!) BUT a free bus runs every 30min to take you there if you do not want to or can not walk. Beach is mix of very small stones and sand, but it was windy when we was there, but we found sunbed at the Palace end any day, and there is a big snack bar for the Garden Hotel on the beach, with drinks and lunch and ice cream for the kids.
Animation team, was OK, not masses on in the evening, but disco bar, and disco in Aqua Blue, and the down town Havana Club was all most wanted. RAMBO !! was the star, everyone wanted him in a picture and he dressed up every night he was working, and stole the stage a couple of times. IF you go and he is there, you will see what we mean.
So the hard sell round the pool (till you got a tan) was a bit bothering, but NOT a much as I have seen, NO local traders are allowed in, just hotel and Sky Trip guys. Get on the Sky Snorkel trip its 1st class and £20 cheaper than the Thomson one.
To get out use a taxi, hotel one is bit dear, but OK, local ones are outside, GET PRICE FIRST and stick to it..
Will I go back ? Maybe, just maybe.
